I know rolls of bags have their place but for most items the precut/sealed bags save so much time. I have some gallon, quart, and pint bags but the quart size get used 90% of the time.
For me i disagree. Not only for saving money, but saving space as well. I can cut exactly to the size i need. Sometimes ill cut the 11" in half because it fits better than the 8". My vacuum sealer, which was like $15 on amazon, has a built in cutter and the roll fits inside the machine.

Cutting an 11" bag in half is basically making a pint bag size (6" wide) but you don't need to seal each one twice to make it. My recent order of 400 quart bags was $24 which comes out to $.06 per foot. This deal comes out to $.08 per foot for the rolls.

My point was simply i can cut it to any size that i need so even if i didnt care about waste what i also care about is freezer space taken. Buying pre cut bags youre always gonna end up with ones that are either too big or just a tad too small. I also wouldnt calculate per foot because that doesnt include the width. Go by square inches. So when i dont need 8" and 5" will suffice, i cut 11" bag in half and get 2 bags from the 11" instead of 1 from the 8" and save freezer space. Chicken breast for instance, cutting the 11" in half is the perfect size.

The bags and rolls are both 8" wide so comparison is the same square inches. I used rolls for decades but packing larger batches of things (like 50lb batches of sausage or snack sticks) made me realize a lot of time is spent cutting and sealing to make 30+ bags that almost always fall into the pre-made pint/quart/gallon bag sizes. If the bags are too long I simply cut them down a bit.
