This Metro Razr 2024 deal is mainly about a cheap foldable with a one year Metro lock and eSIM activation. The strongest upside is the price, with multiple orders going through around $65 or even $35 for a second line, and the phone can be used on Wi Fi or as a secondary device while waiting. Community testing also points to a possible unlock path on some Android 14 units, especially older November 2024 builds. The main catches are frequent stock and checkout failures, plus many reports that newer Android 15 or March 2025 units stay locked or hit server errors. A good fit if you are comfortable with the wait and the activation hassle.
Common Questions (6)
Some units accepted a T-Mobile SIM and worked immediately or for a few days, but many others showed a network-locked message or stopped working. The safest expectation is that it remains Metro-locked until the unlock process or the 1-year timer completes.
Sometimes, but only on certain software builds, mainly Android 14 units with older security patches. Many Android 15 or March 2025-update phones hit server errors or never show the permanent-unlock option, while older A14 builds were reported to unlock successfully.
Mint SIMs were reported not to work out of the box, and several T-Mobile SIMs also failed. A few specific SIMs from T-Mobile or other carriers did work for some users, but that behavior was inconsistent and not something to count on.
No port-in is required for this deal as posted, and several shoppers were able to order with a new number. The listing terms were later changed in the thread, so the requirement may vary by current checkout flow.
It is reported to auto-unlock about 365 days after activation. Do not erase the eSIM before the unlock completes; after it unlocks, you can confirm in settings and then remove the eSIM if you want.
No ongoing commitment beyond the first month was reported. The service is prepaid, so if you do not pay the next month the Metro line ends, and autopay is off by default unless you enable it.

Go to another device with a different IP address (e.g., your smartphone that is not connected to the home router) and complete the purchase there.
Original credits go to another user that came up with the solution, I just couldn't find their previous message.
Go to your home routers WAN settings, look for the MAC address field, write down old MAC address just in case, enter another MAC address (e.g. from your Roku, Firestick, or any other phone wifi or random MAC generator, save, reboot router AND reboot the cable modem and wait 5 minutes. Then whole household will have a new IP from your ISP now.
Redo this process as needed or 1-2 times per year. Good idea to clear all cookies/cache at the same time in all browsers. Just to confuse the data brokers. Be aware this (clearing cookies) is a hassle as all banks will ask you to reverify if you clear the cookies and you will get a bunch of emails with "new login notified from a new location" as the IP address changed. This might also help with reestablishing your ability to order from Metro, TW, TF, etc.
Basically, it appears that your IP from your ISP is mostly semi-permanent but changes when you change the first device (router) after the cable modem. Giving it a new MAC makes it think it's a new device.
And don't do any changes during the day or evening when others in the home depend on it or you will hear about it.

All attempts seem to fail, curious how a network unlock attempt would play out BEFORE the phone is set up with the Esim, since I made my attempts after... Not going to gamble another 65 dollars to find out tho!
Does not work with Tmobile sim, does not work with Mint Mobile sim.
