This Metro Razr 2024 deal is mainly about a cheap foldable with a one year Metro lock and eSIM activation. The strongest upside is the price, with multiple orders going through around $65 or even $35 for a second line, and the phone can be used on Wi Fi or as a secondary device while waiting. Community testing also points to a possible unlock path on some Android 14 units, especially older November 2024 builds. The main catches are frequent stock and checkout failures, plus many reports that newer Android 15 or March 2025 units stay locked or hit server errors. A good fit if you are comfortable with the wait and the activation hassle.

Common Questions (6)

 • Some units accepted a T-Mobile SIM and worked immediately or for a few days, but many others showed a network-locked message or stopped working. The safest expectation is that it remains Metro-locked until the unlock process or the 1-year timer completes.

 • Sometimes, but only on certain software builds, mainly Android 14 units with older security patches. Many Android 15 or March 2025-update phones hit server errors or never show the permanent-unlock option, while older A14 builds were reported to unlock successfully.

 • Mint SIMs were reported not to work out of the box, and several T-Mobile SIMs also failed. A few specific SIMs from T-Mobile or other carriers did work for some users, but that behavior was inconsistent and not something to count on.

 • No port-in is required for this deal as posted, and several shoppers were able to order with a new number. The listing terms were later changed in the thread, so the requirement may vary by current checkout flow.

 • It is reported to auto-unlock about 365 days after activation. Do not erase the eSIM before the unlock completes; after it unlocks, you can confirm in settings and then remove the eSIM if you want.

 • No ongoing commitment beyond the first month was reported. The service is prepaid, so if you do not pay the next month the Metro line ends, and autopay is off by default unless you enable it.

I was able to follow your steps and see the Permanent Unlock button. But when I click it, it says "SERVER COMMUNICATION ERROR: ERROR CODE=200 MSG=SERVER_NO_CONTENT. Any pointers?

I just added the "Turn Airplane mode on" so the phone won't auto update incase users didn't turn off auto updates. I was DM'd that wifi didn't need to be turn on or data because the internet sharing on the PC unlock tool shares PC internet to phone. But then I had other users say that wifi on worked or Wifi off worked aswell. But let me know how it goes.

Yes! Congratz
. I had that issue too where I had to reset multiple times for it to appear.

I did revise the steps to include this.

To others with Android 14 Jan 1 security update. Its doable
Hi there, I tried and got this far, but when I Activate permanent unlock, it says Please turn on your data or wifi connection to see your latest device unlock information. (Server communication Error: error code = 200 MSG=Server_Not_Reachable) Any clue on how to fix? It says I'm connected to the VPN, but im not sure what else I can do.

Were you able to get the phone to work on the T-Mobile network? Maybe you already posted this info somewhere and sorry if I missed it.
I posted it but to answer your question - no, it didn't work.

Ah you can just have airplane mode on if you want. I heard from other users no wifi or data is needed since its already gonna bridge PC internet to your phone I think.
I think I screwed up by activating the sim first. Phone is still on the November 2024 update, but it prompted me to reboot. Haven't rebooted yet, but I guess it's too late???

I activated Metro esim first. Phone got updated to A14 January 2025 security update. And I still successfully unlocked the phone later by following shortyman24's instructions.

Now only if someone figures out how to unlock A14 with March 2025 security update. That'd sweeten the deal, as that's my second phone's status.

Android 14, security build Jan 1st, 2025. I might have screwed something up. Connecting to my normal wifi and pressing permanent unlock seems to have put it in that loop. It now says "Failure in processing the request, please reboot the device and try again. (SLE ERROR:ERROR CODE=7 VENDOR CODE=3 MSG=SLE Internal Error Error code 7) whereas before it would take me to the 180 days locked, but had no errors. So my fault for experimenting with that. I'll try to reset the phone and do it all from step 1 again. Also it did install one system update when I first started the phone before looking at the guide although im not sure which one, but the security build is still jan 1st, 2025.

I will keep playing with it. The only weird thing after i've done the "Reset Metro App" a dozen times is that on the "Status: Locked" screen, it no longer has that sentence mentioning the 180 days. Confused

You do not need to reset the whole phone, just click Reset App on the moto tool on PC to clear 180days metro error, keep resetting and opening til you see permanent unlock.

I have attached a pic below.

You will either get the 180 days Metro (no permanent unlock) or Tmobile Locked screen (has Permanent unlock or temp unlock). Click the permanent unlock on your phone.
