This Metro Razr 2024 deal is mainly about a cheap foldable with a one year Metro lock and eSIM activation. The strongest upside is the price, with multiple orders going through around $65 or even $35 for a second line, and the phone can be used on Wi Fi or as a secondary device while waiting. Community testing also points to a possible unlock path on some Android 14 units, especially older November 2024 builds. The main catches are frequent stock and checkout failures, plus many reports that newer Android 15 or March 2025 units stay locked or hit server errors. A good fit if you are comfortable with the wait and the activation hassle.
Common Questions (6)
Some units accepted a T-Mobile SIM and worked immediately or for a few days, but many others showed a network-locked message or stopped working. The safest expectation is that it remains Metro-locked until the unlock process or the 1-year timer completes.
Sometimes, but only on certain software builds, mainly Android 14 units with older security patches. Many Android 15 or March 2025-update phones hit server errors or never show the permanent-unlock option, while older A14 builds were reported to unlock successfully.
Mint SIMs were reported not to work out of the box, and several T-Mobile SIMs also failed. A few specific SIMs from T-Mobile or other carriers did work for some users, but that behavior was inconsistent and not something to count on.
No port-in is required for this deal as posted, and several shoppers were able to order with a new number. The listing terms were later changed in the thread, so the requirement may vary by current checkout flow.
It is reported to auto-unlock about 365 days after activation. Do not erase the eSIM before the unlock completes; after it unlocks, you can confirm in settings and then remove the eSIM if you want.
No ongoing commitment beyond the first month was reported. The service is prepaid, so if you do not pay the next month the Metro line ends, and autopay is off by default unless you enable it.

At this point, should I activate the Metro eSim, or wait on LovelyClover9678 for further clarifications after testing his new batch of phones?
Tried the tool to no luck, the tools basically doing the same thing as the proxy code so waiting to hear back from the sellers. Will update if it does or doesn't end up working.

model number xt2453-3
hardware version pvt
outside of the box says January 14 2025
android 14
update status: "no updates have been applied"
update history "No history yet, no updates have been applied"
Where does it say what security update I am on (if any)?
I am assuming that this is good if no updates have been applied?
Nice phone

My 1st phone is still locked with no success yet after trying for a few days and activated on Metro eSIM.
1. 2nd phone is not activated to Metro yet, it is brand new out of the box and just got it online with WIFI.
Build date on box is 1/14/2025
2. Phone is on Android 14.
3. Android Security Update: NOV 01, 2024.
4. I used the same laptop, software, cable as I tried on my 1st cell phone (that is still locked with the server 200 error).
5. I tried the same steps posted as everyone else on here and it finally said UNLOCK, I tried several times with WIFI on and off, Airplane Mode, "Reset Metro App", "Open Metro Unlock App, turn on "Internet Sharing", "Turn of Internet Sharing--Uninstall gnirehtet", remove cable, restart the PC software, and trying it again over and over.
6. I tried several things mentioned in step 5 above in different combinations assuming it wouldn't work but somehow it got Unlocked after a few minutes of randomly playing with the software.
Mostly just smashing buttons on the "Motorola Unlock" PC software between WIFI on and off, resetting the metro app and opening the metro app to try again.
I think I got the same server 200 error with the 2nd phone and I just kept trying and it worked, but not 100% sure that it is what happened since I've been swapping between the 2 phones to see if either one would unlock.
I do recall that when it finally unlocked it took a lot longer for the app to go through the process before it unlocked, usually it immediately gives me the server 200 error and I have to try again.
When it unlocked it took a few moments longer for it to process and it said Unlocked.
Let me know if anyone needs any info off the 2nd (unlocked) phone.
I compared the software, updates, etc. to my 1st (locked) phone and everything seems similar software wise.
edit:
After the unlock, it prompted me to reboot for it to take effect even after I had already used a T-Mobile SIM card and tested the calls/data/texts.
The reboot installed the new January 1, 2025 Android Security Update and the phone still shows unlocked and my T-Mobile sim card still worked to get online, call, text.
edit: didn't have any luck with the program after about an hour, but my other razr, with the May security patch ended up showing oem unlock enabled (48 hours) so I unlocked the bootloader and gonna just use root to get it sim unlocked
What was the wifi status? was it off, by the time?
What about the eSim? Did you keep it toggled off all the time?
