Good laptop for Netflix and stuff. If you're looking for gaming though, it sucks. Doesn't support COD. Graphics are bad. Also, 256GB in this day and age is borderline criminal. Will never understand Apple fanboys.
"Doesn't support COD" lmao

Meh, I got a 1tb on my 2020 and would have been fine with the 256. My m4 went with 256 and still fine. I have a 1tb ssd if that ever changes. 512 would be nice though to start with and I'm sure the m5 will finally do it.

Unsure why you got downvoted but in a sense you're right. It's fine tbf. the 8GB RAM would be criminal but it's at least 16. With 256G, you can at least use your local NAS/DAS to supplement the storage.

it's the OS. Things just work out of the box. My recent example was a driver issue with my work laptop on windows 11. I was setting up samsung bud pro 3 and the inbuilt driver would only work as earphone but no mic. spent hours in updating drivers through windows, and dell but it would not work. so there are other things which just make it worth it. for some people additional $200 on $500 laptop is worth bigger battery life, support which apple gives, and lot of things just work right out of the box. i had been windows user for 2 decade but now I'd be willing to pay $200 extra for mac over windows as it would save my lot of time over next couple of years during its life.

I bought this at $699 brand new no taxes during the recent sales and regardless of the 256gb, it's a great machine. It spends most of its life hooked to external monitor and keyboard which works perfect. Then easy to grab and go. Better than a dedicated desktop for a non gamer. Runs excel, basic photo and video editing, a ton of open web browsers, multiple YouTube videos open, no lag and no issues.

Eh, they feel like they're doing something by doing that when someone has a logical answer against their you need 2tb or you ain't shit mentality. Haha. I fell into it when the m1 came out but I did also do 16gb of ram. And again, it's all use case. I do tell people to go for the ram upgrade to 24gb over increasing the ssd depending on their use case though all day because that makes more sense. Only reason I have a 16/256 this time is because it was $700 all in at the PX a couple months ago. Otherwise ram upgrade would have happened.

Isn't new $799? So the discount for open box ranges from $50 to $100 depending on condition.

Recent mac os X have "Optimized Battery Charging". It learns your usage patterns and is supposed to keep it at 80ish (or maybe it 85ish), until you need it to . I don't know if it works well for everyone, and I suspect it can be finicky. Alternately there is (maybe was) AlDente to limit battery charging. Battery bypass would be ideal, but I don't think that's possible on the m4 macbook.
