Just an FYI on the APU: Made for China-only use and has no NPU (AI stuff).

The Ryzen 7 8745HS is a China-only Hawk Point family chip that never received an official launch... ...There is no NPU here.
As an APU meant for use within China, this Ryzen 7 should be fully compliant with the Chinese government-approved cryptography standards.

in practical terms, what would this mean if used in the US? looking for my 15yr old kid that wants a cheap mini computer, but also can do a bit of gaming.

To put it simply - good for everything but AI. Light 1080p gaming and multitasking desktop work will be fine.
