It affects all gigabyte models. However it's more like a case by case. My aorus master has been half year old in vertical configuration and haven't leaked yet
If you don't put your GPU vertically, this is a killer deal. That thermal gel will most likely last more time than the pads. I have a 3080 FE which I've had to buy new pads for. I also have a 3080 Ti from EVGA which also needed new pads.

lol the 30 series needed pads from the factory IMO
I went through all of mine a few months after getting them and all saw huge improvements .. the 30 series cards also just ran HOT compared to 40 and 50 ..
I had 3080FE/EVGA 3090/3090ti FE and all needed pads.
I had a few 4090s and they were all rock solid, you could run them full tilt and sleep on them like a pillow compared to the 30 series cards.
5090s so far so good.. have 3 of them. I would buy any brand, whichever one is the best price tbh. I have a FE, an ASUS (no not the bling model) , and i have a PNY.. they all pretty much perform the same within a couple % tbh and it's all within margin of error or whatever, they're the same. I admit i do like the 5090 FE just because i can FINALLY use PCI-E ports again without vert mounting gpu or using weird risers for my 10gigabit cards.

I have no experience with the 4000 series, but I do have a 5090 Founders Edition inside a tiny case (Formd T1) and the most I've seen it go to was 74 degrees while my 3080 lives in over 90 degrees always. The amount of times I had to open up my 3080 FE due to high temps has me worried because the 5090 has liquid metal so not very friendly to replace pads on.<br />

PTM7950 is a godsend for cpus ... when i built my new 9950x3d machine this year i took apart all my computers and did away with the CPU paste! So much better..
I do think there's a reason nvidia was able to get away with the thin profile on the FE... the board is slightly diffferent than the AIB boards or something? I don't remember specifics but i remember people quipping that they kinda "screwed over theboard partners" by having some sort of "advantage" with the FE.
Anyway i would have to circle back to specifics on that..
Haven't had any 12 pin problems either btw.. just make sure connections are secure.
I've also flashed teh PNY with gigabyte vbios to get the better boost bins and it works fine.. only problems you might run into with vbios changes is if the fan controls dont work right... gigabyte vbios has best boost bins.. but it's still like... not really necessary.
I will oc the vram on heavy ai workloads and 5090 takes it just fine (40 series did as well with vram) ... I've never had a reason to push core clocks and i usually just run them stock either way... just saves me some time on high intensity workload stuff and since it's ECC i can tell if i'm pushing it too hard without getting a crash.. Seems to be common practice to crank the vram oc ... I wouldn't bother touching any of it for gaming or even most of my editing work, just can save a couple hours on projects that take a day... but i also monitor temps closely etc.
5090 is such a beast card though thre's really no reason to push limits, enjoy it.
