***Disclaimer There is a switch on the remote that changes the RC car speed. There are low, medium and high settings. It is turned down out of the box so if you think it is too slow turn it up to full speed. The speed settings are so kids can and new people can pick them up and have fun, but sometimes people think their RC is broken because it is slow. It is just a simple 3 position button on the remote.

The UDIRC is currently the best deal in starter level hobby grade RCs cars. It is $60 and compares very well to the Arrma Granite Grom that was just on sale For $119.99. UDIRC also has upgrade kits with to convert the car to brushless and speed sup to 56 MPH when your skills are good enough to go brushless and high speed.

It has all hex hardware and is modeled after the Arrma Groms, but it is not a clone so the parts are NOT interchangeable. UDIRC has the upgrade kits on Amazon along with EVERY part on the 1611 in case you break something.

I have a couple of Arrma Mojave Groms brushed and brushless and the handling on the UDIRC 1611 is just as good. The shocks are as good as Traxxas, Arrma or Rlaarlo shocks and I was amazed at what UDIRC could do for such a low price. It is as durable as the Arrma Groms as well. It usually has a $50 off coupon on it so it has been $70 since launch, but price will creep up to over $100 once people start learning how good it is.

Have fun bashing and by no means is this an attack on Arrma. I love my Arrma RCs and use them as a high mark to compare other mass produced hobby grade RCs cars.

The picture is my personal RC to show I own one. Is that what you are referring to? Changed it to a stock photo.

Does this use some sort of shorty battery? Doesn't appear to be a normal 2S Lipo. The "upgrade kit" appears to use a legit 2S shorty but cost $75. I'd say get a Arrma GROM or Mega for less after you include the price of the upgrade.

Pictured batteries seem to be Li Ion. Getting two on an entry grade for this price seems to be a decent deal

It does come with 2 shorty Lion batteries. There are pads that keep the shorty from sliding around that you can remove and you can fit a 2200mah standard 3s battery like you get with most Rlaarlos. The Mojave Grom has a bit larger battery space with a pad as well, but I believe the Mojave has a longer wheel base than the Granite Grom so it should be equivalent to the Arrma.
You can run 3s, but are more likely to break a plastic axle. With the $69 upgrade you get axles, differentials, control arms, servo, ESC, brushless motor, a receiver, new tires and more. It is a very comprehensive upgrade and a good deal for the price, but yes the Arrma has some of those things already, but needs the diffs/diff cups, motor, ESC, receiver and maybe a few other things for the upgrade. Arrma does not have a brushless Granite Grom yet though so anything upgrade you do will need to be 3rd party or you need to put an Arrma package together yourself. RCAWD makes an equivalent kit for the Groms for $79 and it is faster than the $69 kit, but slower than the $109 kit.
You really can't go wrong buying Arrma.
