I bought this at 20. I like it because I can easily use it on my phone or pc and it mostly all metal. Plus the lexar encryption is pretty neat.

They are garbage, one of them failed after few times. I wouldn't use it for any important data

At long time Lexar was good when it was owned by Micron. They sold the company to the Chinese and failure stories like yours became common to hear on any thread with Lexar products.

Looks like they're still not good

Nothing important should be stored long term on a flash drive

I pickup 1 and since there are some negative so ran a quick test for fun with SanDisk 256GB Ultra Luxe USB 3.1 Gen 1 Flash Drive - SDCZ74-256G-G46. This was done on the MSI GF75 Thin Gaming Laptop with Intel Core i5-10300H. Both were copy and paste 2.2GB file to the USB3 3 times and then swapped port and copy/paste 3 more times. This was done in FAT32 limit 4GB size file. Since I have something in the SanDisk drive that been working on cannot move or delete, which can't format to a exFat for larger file. Hopefully, this little test help you decide. I will return to the store soon.

The SandDisk speed is 60-73MB/S. It copy same file 2.2GB 1.5X faster. The SanDisk aluminum case do get hot above 100F, but not hot enough to burn the finger.

Lexar speed 16MB/S - 73MB/S. It ramps up and down like the saw tooth 7-8 times during copy 2.2GB file. The temperature is warm around 80F, but not hot like SanDisk.

Lexar as a brand is garbage. Anytime I bought their removable storage it failed. This experience runs over several years. For me Lexar never again. To each their own.

100% this. I bought four of these thumb drives over the past 18 months and only half have survived up to this point.
They look good and having both USB-A and C available with a spin of the drive is convenient, but these get hotter than the sun when transferring lots of data and are slow af. Even at this price, they're hard to recommend.

These are pretty decent with reading/writing speeds but they do run really hot. Having both connections is a plus transferring from a phone to PC.

Horrible reliability reviews. Which is crazy for a flash drive.

I tried to make bootable USB sticks and neither worked. SanDisk Cruisers work fine.
