My washing machine just broke, is this one a decent replacement? I haven't kept up with whatever new features have been coming out in the last 13 years. From a quick look, it doesn't seem that much different from the ones from 13 years ago...

Yes.
long answer: There are a lot of discussion in general regarding washer/dryers and their new technology not being supported after a few years. For example, I have a Samsung washer/dryer and when the computerized parts break, finding reasonably priced replacement part become difficult. When I ask electronics repair people, they suggest buying the machines with less tech because of this (Speed Queen equipment comes to mind and that's why you see those frequently in washer/dryer coin-op places). Most of the repair people I spoke with will not work on a Samsung appliance (other than TV's). The other new tech are heat pump dryers but I'm waiting until they come down in price a bit.
For my replacement washer/dryer, I'm leaning toward LG as one of the longer lasting brands.

I'm replacing an LG and its been without issues for the most part. Over the last several years I've had to do a hard start on it a bunch of times but that's about it. 13 years seems like it has reached it end of life though so I guess I can't complain too much. Long gone are the days when appliances lasted 30 years.

i went speed queen and never looked back. even washes the clothes better imo than my previous fancy washer. alot of these companies dont uderstand that at the end of day the point is to wash clothes, not try to impress with fancy non sense while the main function of washing is mediocre

Been using the LG front load 9/6kg for about 2 years now. It's got the AI feature, and I usually just use the mixed fabrics option. No issues at all in the last 2 years

Thanks. I'm trying to hold out until Black Friday but if a deal comes up on an LG, i'll likely go for it. Glad to hear no issues.

It connects easily with the phone app and gives a bunch of options to play with. I usually turn it on in the morning before heading to work, and then I get all the notifications right on my phone, super convenient to control everything from there. Plus, it even has a self-cleaning feature, which is a nice bonus. I think technological washer are not bad.
