Couldn't find any unbiased pro reviews on this bike, but Amazon customers gave it 4/5 stars with over 400 ratings [amazon.com].

The restrictive code that's going around just the US, is causing ebikes to be less of an option - never mind the repair issues.

Those 48V 20AH battery pack scare the cr*p out of me - what enclosure are they in? Plastic or metal?

Also any tips on whether storing these (battery pack) in a fireproof safe in a shed that gets upto 140F during summer is actually safe or increases chances of a house fire?

Fireproof safes are designed to keep fire out, not in, and they're basically sealed, which will create what is essentially a bomb. If you're concerned, get a BAT Safe. But don't try to jury-rig something, you're more likely to make the problem worse.

While 140° isn't hot enough to cause a battery fire, my intuition says that to maximum a battery's lifespan, you'll want to keep it in a relatively cool, dry place. And the battery pack is plastic.

ETA: according to this page [cellsaviors.com], storing the battery at a higher temperature does increase the risk of fire.

Thank You for this - I had no idea what a BAT Safe was. It makes sense to use it when charging a lipo because it can hold only one but what's a solution for holding a dozen of them? Or the battery for this eBike?

I have been using ammo boxes for lipo storage - any idea if that's any better than my brilliant idea of using a fireproof safe?

A match is large enough to burn down a house.

A hose will not put out a metal fire. You need an extinguisher rated for it.

If I keep this battery in a bathtub with a mattress on top of it can it still blow my house up?

Fun fact:
The title on the seller site is:

AMYET V9-G60 Adults Electric Bike 1000W Motor Bicycle 48V 20AH 20" Tire Ebike Electric E Bikes Mountain Moped Ebikes For Men

So amazingly, truth in advertising, buried in the word salad. Because 1000w nominal is is more than 750W allowed for class 1, class2 or class 3 ebike and 30mph is more than the 20mph throttle limit or 28mph PAS limit.

So yeah. Like they say, its a moped and for adults not kids.
