This Ryzen 4500 from 2022 is more than enough for basic works with small power consumption. Many people don't need the latest gen CPU and won't feel the real world difference.
At this price, a used (imported) 3500X ($41) is a much better deal, but this a wash with a 2600X/1600AF here and good enough for a lot of stuff if you are squeamish about going used.

The 4000 series performs like the 3000s or a bit slower in most of the cases.
I can't find a use case for the Ryzen 4000 series in 2025.
If I want a cheap AI PC, I'd use the $20 ish Ryzen 2600 or 1600AF + cheapest AM4 board that has 4 RAM slots and put 32GB x 4 DDR4 into it + 512GB PCIe 3.0 or SATA SSD + one of the NVDA GPUs.
This gets the lowest price possible and highest tokens per second possible. Only if I want to sell a brand new system, then I'd buy the cheapest brand new AM4 CPU.
Yep more future proof with 5500 for a few dollars more
AMD first had the Ryzen 4000 laptop CPUs, then it was like hmm we ordered too much from TSMC. Lets make some desktop version out of these. The 4000 series weren't available to all markets when it first came out. And it wasn't faster than the 3000 series, so no one cared to import them and sell them on eBay. Only some OEM might carry them but there was no market interest.

No one back then knew AMD would release so many CPUs on one socket.
People back then believed that there would be many two generations of CPUs on one socket.
Just like how Intel did it.
The tiny chip that stores BIOS on the motherboard is just not big enough to store all the CPU models and configs.
Always check MFG's web page to make sure CPU works with the motherboard.
But there are some cases where 2000 series CPUs would work on B550 and X570 boards.
YMMV, case by case.
Example1:

Ryzen 5 2600 works on Asus Tuf Gaming B550M-Plus (WiFi)
Example 2:
ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING WIFI II also supports Ryzen 2000 series CPUs.

It's kinda logical in when looking back as it defines that all 5000 series are Zen 3.
AMD stopped doing that in the recent launches and now everything is confusing as heck. The Ryzen Z2 series contains literally four different core architectures and three different GPU architectures.
