It wasn't that bad. I've seen a lot of worse movies in the theater lately. So I would give it a 6 or a B-. The visuals and audio were very impressive in IMAX 3D and it had a lot of action even if the story itself wasn't that good and Jared isn't the best choice. It's one of those movies people should see in IMAX 3D just for the experience.

In my opinion, Tron Ares is no worse than your average Marvel movie these days and at least Tron Ares knows "its lane" and doesn't try to be funny and fail like Marvel movies. I enjoyed it more than the Captain America Harrison Ford hulk one or the last 2 Venoms.

It's definitely a flop. There wasn't a market for this. It's crazy that they even made this movie. Tron: Legacy flopped, too. There's just a small, but very vocal fanbase, that made it seem like people really wanted another Tron. It also didn't help that they cast Jared Leto.

Actually, it's very solid. Way better than I expected. Saw it 3D IMax. The opening seriously popped.

Maybe the world didn't want another Tron? I'm curious.

It's actually pretty good. The Jerod Leto element did not detract from it overall. I saw it twice.

The Tron franchise is 43 years old. I guess they're gonna drive it 'til the wheels fall off. Hollywood is seriously lacking in fresh new story lines that amount to anything. So they milk the old ones for as long as they can. AI will be their demise, when any average Joe can write a script and have AI create realistic characters, scenes, editing, cinematography, and music scores.

It's ironic that AI dominance has been foretold in many movies dating all the way back to 2001: A Space Odyssey in 1968, and continuing with wildly successful stuff like Terminator. Now it's here. Crazy times are ahead. I wonder which movie is an accurate predictor of our future. Mad Max? The Book of Eli? Minority Report?

Saw it yesterday in 3d and honestly it was awesome. I had no expectations going in and really enjoyed it.

I have a 120" projector in the basemet with a pretty good sound system, so I normally wait to watch movies at home.

However, my daughter and I love tron so we opted for the going to the theater experience for Ares and we loved it. Granted we might be a little bias. We aren't die hard movie critics, we loved both of the other tron movies and love the arcade game (have the 1up version) too.

Thanks OP - time to go see it in imax 3D!

If you were a fan of the other movies, you will be disappointed. In a vacuum, it's not a great movie

I saw it at an early release screening. Its the most 6/10 movie you will ever see in your life. Its not bad by any means just a lame Rise Of The Skywalker macguffin plot, middling writing, and proof bringing tron stuff to the real world is boring.
Fair number of cool looking scenes and a great soundtrack.

Does it acknowledge or explain away Legacy at all?

I wouldn't call Legacy a flop, it made almost 500 mil on a 170 mil budget, but these days its hard to justify a "franchise" unless it cracks a bil.
