Is this limit one or can entire family get the $2.99 meal. Don't see a coupon so I'm assuming you can get this deal during the dates offered? Dine in only??

Years ago I didn't need a meatball deal to get me into IKEA. They used to have such clever and fun merchandise and real bang for the buck, but now it's mostly cheap and overpriced garbage. RIP IKEA.

With all their food promos, I've been able to order multiple meals. My local Ikea offers to go boxes. Just a heads up - I'd recommend adults to consider getting two meals as their standard meals usually come with 8 meatballs.

It is so odd that restaurants and stores are willing to give out their recipes when they could make money for exclusively making it like they do at the restaurants and stores. I never understood that.

Businesses can only be innovative for so long until their competitors find out. What you are describing is the push to bring their first clients in and they are hoping on residual visits. I would not go all the way to IKEA for what they had just because it is so overwhelming. Whenever I visit my sister in DC, we go because my nephew (her son) likes the Mac & Cheese. I love the veggie dogs. My sister just likes to have her meal paid for by my parents (probably to feel like a kid again since she has to spend all her income on her kids).

All you had to say was "veggie dogs" lol.

Businesses can always be innovative. If they aren't bothering to be innovative, that's a good indication that they don't really have very much competition, if any.

don't under estimate how much people value convenience
for example mcdonald's "secret sauce" isn't a secret anymore
people are willing to pay the premium to have all this done for them

I guess. Still, even if someone "found out," it does not mean that it was made exactly like that (even if it tastes the same). That is the point of keeping it exclusive. It is more of like a "Fine, you found out and are making it; however, we never stated that this was how we made it or that what you made is the sauce."

If I knew how to make a sauce, I probably would not go back to the place (and this is also if I was not lazy either). So in a way, I would never figure out how to make the sauce or even care to and yes, I would bank on convenience of just paying for it (BUT...only if it was offered for a good price).

McDonald's is not really being innovative, and yes they seem to not have any competition. If they make anything new, it is just a sauce (something that can be added on or taken off easily). People still flock.
Another is a restaurant like Raising Canes. All they have are chicken tenders and they have stayed that way since they were founded. The chicken strips are not even good quality, but people flock because of the sauce??
I guess you could state that McDonald's is being innovative on the sauce part. Innovation is an exception with Raising Canes.

If I'm not mistaken most of McDonald's more recent innovations are drink related. Though I'm fairly sure they also just made a big point of bringing back "value meals" at an $8 price point.

I wouldn't call this [macrotrends.net] "flocking."

What new drinks does McDonald's have? Price footsies by rehashing combo meals, after making them expensive could be seen by some as innovation.

I think flocking could be subjective. In my neck of the woods, McDonald's are always slammed. No in n outs here. Chick fil a is another one. The drive thru lines are nearly in the street.
