It's a great card - I bought it a month ago for $1,050 at MC, and so far it's been solid. This is a decent deal.

The prices of the last couple of generations of video cards have been ridiculous, thanks to a lack of competition from ATI and the video chip supply being choked by nVidia so they can focus their allocations on the bitcoin mining and AI stuff. Until real competition shows up at the high end, these prices are likely to stay ludicrously high. Fortunately, the latest AMD/ATI cards are decent in the mid tier, so the 5060 and 5070 prices are likely to drop nicely.

Color me unimpressed with the 5080. It's the first 80 series card that didn't perform better than the previous 90 series.

Forgive us, the ones who never wielded a xx90 GPU.

There will never be competition at the high end. AMD CEO will tell you the same thing.

And it's been mentioned numerous times that NVIDIA could shut down selling 80 and 90 series cards in lieu of producing products for a commerical market which would yield higher margins.

Gamers are fortunate to have access to those cards on a hardware and software level. And the scalping market has already proven Nvidia has the proper strategy.

That's one of the most nerd things I've read in a while. The image I have of you in my head is an out of shape guy with a patchy beard, and speaking like Sylvester the cat.

IIRC it's barely an improvement on the 4080, performing only marginally better than the 4080S which was also only marginally better than the 4080.

I have the non RGB version of this card that I purchased at MSRP from Best Buy. Really good build quality, whisper quiet card even under full load.

I mean if you can get a new 4090 for this price, then sure do that all day long. Hell if you can a reliable used 4090 for that price I'd consider myself extremely lucky
