I saw a bunch of 16in intel i9 or i7 macbook pro with 64gb ram and 1tb or 2tb ssd for around this same price or even cheaper. Is the M1 THAT much better to sacrifice on ram and storage space.
Personally, I feel 1tb is still small to just about ok these days.... not sure how people deal with 256gb ssd...

The M chips are night and day better than anything intel has offered.

Not everyone stores their entire digital catalog on their base model laptop. There are much better and safer ways to store your files than on a portable device.

512gb work computer, using less than 110gb of storage. I could get away with 256gb just fine.

All that to say, there are better options out there than the first iteration of the M1 Macbook Pro that isn't even the pro version of the chip. Get an air or get a newer version.

I use this for work. Its ok. Touch pad is slightly gimmicky and would prefer larger keys.

I personally like the touchbar, but it never hit its stride and Apple is done with that experiment. I think that the touchbar is the biggest liability for long term hardware and OS support for the 13" M series Macbook Pros. They din't make those parts anymore for any product.

Still good for a few years if you really want the touchbar.

If you just need a rock bottom Apple Sillicon Macbook and can wait a month, I'd wait to see what the M4 Airs will clock in at on Black Friday, or perhaps an M3 model.

I had to replace my m1 recently. I miss the Touch Bar, but not many share the same opinion lol

Nope. My previous work laptop had the touchbar and it was frustrating at best.

This MacBook may have a Pro name but It has the same processor as the 13" MacBook Air M1. It is a MacBook Air with a fan and touch bar. That's why I said it is the step child of the MacBook lineup. It is no where a Pro when considered to the M1 Pro in the 14" MacBook Pro.
It also supports multiple displays unlike the air. Also this is the last laptop made without a notch on the display I believe.

I personally don't get these refurbished deals, for reasons
1.) +200 more bucks you can get a far superior machine, i.e, macbook air M4
2.) this is a refurbished, which means you're rolling the dice
3.) for 200 more bucks, your investment into a newer(or a brand new) machine will last your few more years.

This is an M1 MacBook PRO...
It's a MBP but it's not an M1 PRO. It's the basic M1 chip. Still a powerful enough chip for 90% of real-world use cases.

Despite the reviews I used to love the slide bar
