How does this compare to the JBL Bar 1000? I haven't paid attention to sound bars, but my god I was shocked at how incredible it sounded. The bass, the clarity, it sounded like I was at a little movie theater.

Late to the party but have the LG 95 Tr and it's backordered .. now reading that this is far superior to it. Worth changing it up ?

love this soundbar. got it for $650 including a 4TB 990 pro ssd.

best speaker system i've ever owned. i went to listen to some $1300-$2500 speakers at nebraska furniture mart in a 2.1 arrangement recently. speakers there were obviously better, but they were LESS BETTER than i expected for the price compared to the $650 i paid for the 990d.

value per dollar spent on this setup is spectacular.
Wow how'd you get it with the SSD? Was that a Samsung offer or somewhere else?

Edit: Nevermind saw your post, missed the reply at first

First you buy the sound bar for $720 and they ship you a defective one that buzzes/hisses. You complain and they offer you to price match the order, give you 10% off on your replacement order ($650 prior to tax), and issue you a $75 promo credit toward a future order.

Then you buy another for $399 (a previous slickdeal earlier this year; I was hoping to flip to pay for the first) and they cancel your order. Then you use ChatGPT to write complaints to the FTC, the BBB in New Jersey, and the Attorney Generals' Offices in New Jersey and the state you live in. Samsung issued $200 in promo credit to make me go away.

Used that to get the 990 4TB NVME SSD on sale for $275 and pay $5 in tax or something to pick it up from Best Buy.

A lot of pain and annoyance but the price and the quality of the system made it worth it.
That's called fraud

Do we think black friday will have any better deals? I just started looking into sound bar so I know nothing of previous deals. I have an old Denon x2200w receiver and I'm just looking to streamline and declutter.

it's possible. But typically the september/october deals are just as good.

I've been disappointed the last few black fridays to be honest because the specific models that i want havent been on sale.

I just picked up this soundbar and it's great. If you want to de-clutter the typical home theater setup then this is a really good compromise at $700.

My last house was a single story, so it was easy to install the home theater in the walls and cieling. But my current home is an older 2 story and I didn't want to rip apart the drywall and ceilings to install a discrete system. So coming from personal experience....... this is a great system, at a great price, and is easy to install.

BF is going to very interesting with all the turmoil going on.

Keep in mind soundbars aren't designed to replace/compete actual HT setups.
You do sacrifice sound quality with them.

There are on or in wall speakers that may work well without the significant sacrifice.
They are not cheap though.

It's an old (still decent) setup. With kids, I mainly watch movies or game at night while they're in bed. I don't get to crank it up and take advantage of the sound like I used to. The only time we get a higher volume is during family movie nights. The front towers have gotten knocked over more times than I can remember. At this point, I think a decent sound bar with smaller wireless rears sounds good. Less of a footprint and a cleaner setup. I'm curious about how well the Atmos works on soundbars, I don't currently have anything set-up for Atmos, just standard 5.1 setup.

Yeah, this is kinda my viewpoint. Declutter and easy set-up, but still sound decent for the compromise. Thanks for the feedback.

Much like traditional setups "decent" is highly subjective, exponentially more when adding the cost of it.

Do you need to spend $700 on a soundbar for decent, it depends & very subjective in my experience.

Keep in mind you don't really get "Atmos" from a soundbar, it's simulated.

If you use stream/digital content, that is lower quality content especially on the audio side, major drop.

Q900f has a different design sub speaker. Dual speakers on each on opposite side. I have the q900f and sorry to burst anyone's bubble but its garbage. These soundbar has dialogue volume issue. They are low and can barely understand talking and You'll have to rise volume up, then when action scene comes on its gets super loud. I wish I never brought this. My vizio elevate sound must better at half the cost

I wasn't originally think spending $700, more like 400 - 500. This just seems like a really good deal on what I'm understanding to be one of the better sounbar set-ups.
We mostly stream, but I do enjoy watching on disc every so often. Recently watched Avengers with the kids and the improved sound over streaming was very noticeable, so I understand the drop off. We just don't buy movies like we used to.
I feel like this satisfies my wants as a good sounding system while decluttering my set-up. I think I'd rather spend a little more and not be disappointed when giving up on my original setup. I'm just nervous with Samsung's poor return period.
