I bought this last time and some of the batteries in the pack were low charge to begin with. Installed them in my Schlage smart lock and lock gave low battery warning after a week where it normally takes a year to go through a set of 4xAA's. Not all batteries were low charge, only a few in the pack. Maybe I received a bad batch but beware.

wouldn't it be more cost effective to use rechargeables?

They only run on dead batteries.

Rechargeables are pretty expensive.

Pros vs cons on both. Convenience & price outweighs rechargeables. 1.5v lithium rechargeable arent cheap yet. 1.2v ni-mh yes but rechargeables gotta deal with shelf drain, varies by brands. Seem like going rechargeables you still have regular batteries around.

Rechargeables sometimes get accidentally tossed out. Best to try a set of 4-8 pack 1st to see if it fits your needs.

There are some rechargeable that are lasting 10 yrs with over 4000 charge cycles.

Energizer Max didn't test near the top in the Alkaline battery comparisons. Might be worth looking for impartial comparisons before jumping on these deals. There were 2 Energizer versions that did test well, I believe. I think one of them had "Max" in the name, but there were 3 words.

I don't have the link handy, but it came up easily with a web search. They split Alkaline, L-Ion (single use) and rechargeable groups. Tested initial and long term use as well as cold use (in a freezer).

Just got mine, exp date is 12/2039

I used to use rechargable batteries almost exclusively. Eneloop, Eneloop pro, etc... and they work well until they don't. I've tossed more Eneloop and Eneloop pro's than I'd ever care to, especially due to the high price of them! They would work fine but then some would stop charging and flash an error light. I used them in camera flashes, and the output of them also didn't compare to regular AA batteries unless you bought the high voltage rechargables.. I ended up switching to mostly disposables and haven't gone back.

The big benefit to them for me is the fact they don't leak. I've had about 4-5 cases of Duracell's leaking into my devices.. but in every case, Duracell quickly cut a check to cover the full value of the item

Someone asked this in the Woot forums, and a staff member replied that they received the shipment from the factory three weeks ago. So, not expiring.

Good deal but like before the batteries came completely loose in the shipping bag out of the packaging.
