Is this a good deal? Or shall I wait for Thanksgiving deals?

I believe this is likely the best deal you can get based on the configuration for the price. I'm not sure if you can find a better option when comparing configurations.

Personally I'm not in love. It's not that it's a bad price or computer, it just depends on what you prioritize. But just a few days ago you could get (for a week with Walmart) a Legion 5 15.1" with a 500 nit Oled screen, a ryzen 260 and 5060 for $950 new. The screen on this is pretty mediocre in terms of brightness which is a big deal to me. Also that 14th gen i7 likely means atrocious battery life for even basic browsing/video watching if that matters to you.

IIRC BestBuy does weekly sales on laptops, shifting back and forth between select brands and slowly getting better each week leading up to BF. For example, Asus this week, HP next week, Asus again the week after.

Exactly my feelings. This isn't bad at all, but I wouldn't call it slick yet

Deal or No deal. If you can wait a few weeks for Black Friday ads. I suggest waiting like I'm going to be doing since not too far away.

This is a decent deal. 14th gen i7 with 32GB ram and 1TB ssd means upgrading isn't required. The screen is good (FHD+ 165hz) with 100% srgb so colors are good. It has fast charging standard but the desktop-class CPU will drain a lot of power. I also like that it has an IR camera for Windows hello which is a bit rare on gaming laptops.

The only real complaint is the same with most gaming laptops, Nvidia crippling the GPU by limiting it to only 8GB VRAM. This means this won't perform much faster than the 4060 TUF for $250 less that's brand new. Particularly at 1440p if you plan on using this as a desktop replacement with a better external monitor. Older games may work with it but settings may need to be turned down or DLSS enabled for newer titles.

Agreed, this though is slick. 5070 Ti for 1229 open box excellent.

My feelings as well, I would not recommend 14th or 13th Gen Intel to anyone. They use too much power and get far too hot in a laptop. The Lenovo deal Walmart has right now is the better pick.

They choose seemingly odd models too. Ex: the HP Omen 14 with 5070 was on sale last week for less than the 5060 version.

This is a good deal, Strix is certainly better than Tuf and the 5070ti is a great laptop GPU. The dim 1200p screen and super gamer aesthetic are not for me though. This would be a good laptop for a parent to buy a teen, with the specs they'll be able to use it for a while.

Yeah I mean there is nothing wrong with the machine. Just been a lot better systems at this price point.

Also wouldn't buy this for a teen assuming we are anywhere near college. The battery life is just going to be atrocious for school.

I've had mixed experiences with Asus in the past. Enough so that I wouldnt trust a gaming laptop from them as much as I would Lenovo, HP, dell, etc
