Tempting, but I use a $5 gallon of chlorinating liquid [walmart.com] mixed at a 1/4 ratio with water and a good squirt of Dawn dish soap to clean my siding every few years.

I mix it in a gallon chemical sprayer [walmart.com], apply it to my home, wait 10 minutes, and wash it off with a pressure washer; it works well. It might sound strange, but I also enjoy the faint smell of chlorine in the air as it reminds me of the public pool I used to frequent as a kid, bringing back nostalgic memories. Maybe TMI

I'd buy this if I were sure I could repurpose the cleaner for other things like washing cars, lawnmowers, decks, etc., without causing any damage. Too bad it isn't a 4-pack of Simple Green Pro HD like the one that was on sale a few years ago at the same price; just ran out a few weeks ago...

Thank you OP. This is clearly a price error, as it is the same $15 price for a pack of one, a pack of two or a pack of four. Let's see if I get my delivery though.

The smell you associate with chlorine, that "pool smell," is actually from chloramines, a reaction between chlorine and urine.

I do something similar with a solution of warm water + chlorine + TSP. Spray it on, rinse it off with a garden sprayer, being careful to spray downward.. using a brush to agitate if there's any accumulated material (e.g. lichen).
Gotta be careful using a pressure washer with vinyl siding - it's easy to get water in places you don't really want it.

Dude, it's the chlorinating liquid [walmart.com] that is invoking fond nostalgia as smell is closely tied to memory. Unless you are saying my home is covered in urine??? laugh out loud

Good point, and thanks for the feedback. I use a somewhat sheety Sunjoe electric pressure washer that isn't as powerful as a gas one, but honestly, I can't complain; it's served me well and gets the job done. I think anything more powerful and I probably would have done some major damage by now laugh out loud

The homemade mixture I shared is pretty effective and super affordable, and you really don't need a pressure washer to rinse it off because of its strength; a garden hose works fine, like you mentioned. I just prefer cleaning everything at once; deck, windows, garage doors, etc. ergo using the pressure washer is ideal and convenient for me.

I get strange looks when I say I enjoy walking into a hotel or some other building that has an indoor pool and catching that whiff of chlorine. It's a nostalgic smell for me as well.

I use a sunjoe electric pressure washer too (on other stuff) - it's been pretty solid for like 5+ years now.

BTW - how'd you manage to do multi-quoting still? I haven't been able to do that since slickdeals revamped the forum design..

lol no it does not... urine does mix with chlorine to produce a different caustic smell so you are at least partially right.

But the smell that most of us associate with that clean pool smell is just chlorine.

I really hate the internet. People take a half fact and embellish the rest.

Same here. Probably because my family used it so much.

its not clean if the smell of the place doesnt sting my nose and cause a mild headache!

'Pool smell' does come from the breakdown of chlorine & buildup of combined chlorine/chloramines, but that doesn't happen strictly as a result of urine, but all contaminants that chlorine bonds with.

If you're good at managing your free & total chlorine, your pool will barely smell at all.
