I see an excellent by me for 492.99

Probably not tempting enough to pull the trigger since I really don't need to upgrade

They have a new MSI shadow for 499.99, so definitely not worth 492.99 for an open box.

Shadow/Ventura is pretty well known as the worst msrp model so this is a nice little boost since you also still get warranty. Also dual bios which is nice since Blackwell oces so well

Excellent- $492.99 -> it lets me ship it at this price point and stacks with the AMEX $25 OFF BEST BUY offer, but ehh, still not an amazing deal. I think we'll see lower for BF/CM for those that aren't in a rush.

You can do it but be sure to ask if they actually test it. They simply will forgo testing if they don't have the resources or equipment and straight up say "Excellent". For example, I got an Excellent condition iPad. It was essentially unused; it's easy to test since you just power it on and check the charge count. My brother got the TH8S shifter for his racing wheel. Someone bought a new one, replaced their faulty one and returned. And of course, Best Buy didn't test it because how would they? They would have to connect it to a Thrustmaster wheel.

If you buy it, check out the thermals on it and compare the temps with people's benchmarks.

Noob question, would this swap easily with my 3070? Thanks!
edit: chat gpt said to check for a few things like pin connects to see if it matches

Yes, you can swap it, and it should work if your power supply is powerful enough. But if your motherboard is old, you will likely not get the full benefit of this new gen card. 5070 uses PCIe 5.0 x16m while your motherboard is probably 4.0 or 3.0. Another issue is your CPU will likely become the bottleneck.
One potential issue is that these new cards require UEFI BIOS, which your old motherboard might not have.

"Out of respect for your time: The answer is 1 to 4%. It's 1-4% different between PCIe Gen5 and PCIe Gen3 x16 on the RTX 5090. Gen4 x16 and Gen5 x16 are about equal to each other, with some instances of Gen3 x16 (which is comparable to Gen4 x8 in bandwidth) yielding about a 4% advantage to Gen5 x16." Definitely do not use ChatGPT for this use case. Half the used electronics I see these days is some sort of "ChatGPT told me it was compatible so I bought it but it wasn't" situation.
