Thanks OP! Got one. I've seen a lot of people with these types of bags and I always wondered if that was their personal or carry on.
My use case is I travel often for a couple of days. At least 5-6 trips a year that's less than 4-day long. In fact, I just got back from 3-day Toronto trip with this backpack. I only need 3 t-shirts and 3 boxers along with 2 pants. It's more than enough to fit all these in without me carrying a carry-on.

I flew United back and forth to Japan in April. No one ever checked personal item sizes.
