Electrical engineer here. The temperature (energy) required to cause these to explode is considerably higher than these get. The temperature to cause damage is actually pretty close to what a lot of these electric handwarmers advertise to achieve though.This is why they usually only advertise a maximum temperature of around 130F, this gives a sufficient safety factor. Good designs will have layers of protection to prevent any thermal run away situations. Up to you to decide if $8 mass produced Chinese electronics meet that criteria.

I'm a mail carrier and our mail trucks effectively don't have heat so I've become pretty familiar with products like this that can help get me through a route...these can be quite handy when you really need em.

Just got mine from this deal so I could use them at the night time Eagles/Lions game. They worked very well, heated fast. The lowest setting is still hot. I tried the higher settings and felt they were too hot on my skin, but worked great through light clothing.

I ordered these when the deal was posted and was sent the Mini model with the 2000mAh battery that's normally 17.99. I requested a replacement and was again sent the Mini model as part of the replacement.

They do get warm/hot fast, its on one side only - other side gets just slightly warm from temp transfer, not too crazy big just the right size - it could easily fit inside the glove. This def worth $10 if you will be using it often.

These work surprisingly well for $10, bought a couple more for Christmas gifts. Turned on to L2 and left setting, it stayed on over 2hrs. Also, all the L1-4 modes have good varying levels of warmth unlike some other hand warmers in this price range I've tried.
