I ordered the AK2 plus mini yesterday. Should I cancel and get this?

Depends. What's your use case? The AK2 is a low power PC, great for building a NAS or other server-type apps. But I wouldn't use it as a desktop PC; the performance isn't great for that. This one would be better for desktop applications.

I spent way much time comparing ... For a desktop setup, I recommend waiting for the 7840hs or newer type cpus. I got my minisforum um790 with I think a 8745hs CPU and it zooms compared to the old i5-10500 I was using. Draws 22w during usage and works great with my Linux mint setup.

Thanks for that information. Right now my only use case is to run guitar pro(pretty low requirements) on my living room tv and general browsing. BUT, who knows what I'll find out I need a few months to a year after I get this.

If you think you might need more capability in the future, I'd spend more for this model.

That's a setup that's over 2x the cost of this?

Would this work OK for casual steam gaming?

Yes. Many of these types of questions can be answered by going to the manufacturer's website [firebatpc.com].
