I need a printer compatible with nylon and carbon filament. What models/brand should I be considering here at the end of 2025. Between 250-300mm bed size and AMS for dissimilar filament support wanted.

FYI - if you're expecting multi-color from this thing, I would hold off. Elegoo has been not very transparent about it, and there's a good chance this thing will never get multicolor capability.

Other than unsubstantiated rumors, what real news is there about version 2? I've yet to see anything that looked remotely legitimate.
The CC2 is a real product in China. It exists, and it's been confirmed by Elegoo personnel. What's not clear is if it's a China-only version, if it's actually the replacement going forward for the CC1 in the rest of the world, if it's the only multi-color version of the CC, etc.

Internals are different, it's not just a "lite refresh".

I pre-ordered the Elegoo Centauri Carbon printer in early June after seeing it on Slickdeals, as a birthday gift for my son. It arrived in late July, but right out of the box on his birthday, the printer had a Z-axis motor failure, so we couldn't use it at all.

After many emails, support first wanted me to replace the motors myself, but I refused. They eventually sent a replacement printer at the end of August. It worked for about two weeks before new problems started — the filament wouldn't stick, then it formed a blob around the nozzle and stopped printing completely.

I asked for a refund or another replacement, but they refused and only sent parts with a long, complicated repair guide. Even after doing everything and checking YouTube for help, the printer still failed — now the print head won't heat properly.

I've tried multiple times to escalate my case, but those requests are ignored, and since they only reply once a day, every step takes forever. Now, in mid-October, they're offering to send yet another cable. After nearly three months, two printers, and over 50 emails, it's worked less than two weeks total.

Keep in mind that the China market didn't get a CC1; so this is the first release for them.

Honestly I was on the fence and bought one a month ago. Have had this thing going 24/7 and it's great for the price point. No issues with any of my prints and great details when utilizing the .02mm or .04mm nozzles. Have used PETG and PLA with great results.

I added one to my cart on eBay, from their official eBay store, and they sent me an offer for it at $255 (plus the usual $30 shipping) and it came out to right about $307 shipped ($255+30 shipping+ $22 tax).

Not sure if that saves anyone money or if they would send you the same, or any, offer, but if your are considering this printer then maybe try adding one to your cart and wait a day or two to see if they send an offer. Mine was before the announcement of V2 as well so they may be getting even more aggressive with the discounts to clear out inventory.

edit: this is the specific listing I used to add to my cart ... https://ebay.us/m/GZPYnh

Have one, have hundreds of hours on it, and I love it.

I would not buy one today if I had any hope of multi material, if that's what you want get an ad5x or spend up and get the p2s combo. Never buy something based on future promises and it's looking like if the multi material system ever does come out for the CC1, based on the CC2, it will be tacked on and not worth the money.

An H2S would be your best bet, it has a heated chamber which will help with nylon.

I'm going to speak here in Elegoo's defense. I ordered this printer the day it was available to pre-order. Yes it is far from perfect, but the value I got for $330 (including shipping) was INSANE. Even without the AMS I think the value is 100% there for the average user. Plus, they have continued to improve it so if you are buying it now you will get the upgraded LED that I had to order from them. The main point here is value for the money.

FYI, I'm a casual 3D printer guy who has yet to learn any design. My first 3D printer was an Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro and it was great for me.

I have 2 of these printers, one with over 2000 hours and one with over 700 hours. Most I have had to do was replace a nozzle at 1600 hours and keep the build plates clean from my finger oils so prints stick. There's not a better value for the price point.

At this point the Carbon 2 is Chinese domestic market only. It may eventually move to global channels, or not. Since none exist in the wild yet, differences between the CC and CC2 are unknown.
