After all the John Deere garbage Bambu has been pulling lately to break compatibility with third party parts and software, I just don't understand why anyone would want to buy into this ecosystem. I also won't have my print jobs flowing through Chinese cloud servers.

because closed, controlled ecosystems just work... when done right. BambuLabs really did nail the execution, in terms of making a device that is a tool for hobbies and not the hobby.
you can still get 3rd party hardware (pates, extruders, hotends, ect.), but the SW... after have other brands for years and futzing with all sorts of opensores solutions, nah, i want SW designed for the tool that does exactly what it should every time.

as for print jobs through the cloud... i'm much more concerned about my camera feeds, they can have my print jobs

You can very easily print those national security projects of yours via local connection.

Super good deal. I might be crazy though to just wait and hope the p2s combo comes in at the $799 they originally announced it at. This will be my first 3d printer and I figure for the same price or even $100 more (if it's $900) it's better than the x1c and original ams.

This is what I was thinking too. I just didn't know enough to know if the lidar is more beneficial or not.

I was looking at the P1S combo at $650 right now, but this is tempting. Not sure if I'd need the extra features

How are you designing parts for this? I understand if you have Creo or Solidworks, what is the general mass using for home designing of parts without?

If you upgrade to harden nozzle and extruded gear that's another $60.

if you look at the comparison between the P2S and X1, there's little reason to go with the X1 these days... especially weighing the AMS2 in the mix. the X1 is still a fantastic printer, it's just 3 years old now, a lifetime in the 3D printing world.

i'd buy the P2S combo in heartbeat...
this is coming from a very happy X1C owner, for the past ~2 years.

the lidar is more of a gimmick feature... it really doesn't do much. i rarely have 1st layer issues (unless i'm lazy and don't clean a dirt plate or something), so it hardly seems worth it.

Will the P2S have enclosure and air filter? I print primarily ABS.
