After all the John Deere garbage Bambu has been pulling lately to break compatibility with third party parts and software, I just don't understand why anyone would want to buy into this ecosystem. I also won't have my print jobs flowing through Chinese cloud servers.

because closed, controlled ecosystems just work... when done right. BambuLabs really did nail the execution, in terms of making a device that is a tool for hobbies and not the hobby.
you can still get 3rd party hardware (pates, extruders, hotends, ect.), but the SW... after have other brands for years and futzing with all sorts of opensores solutions, nah, i want SW designed for the tool that does exactly what it should every time.

as for print jobs through the cloud... i'm much more concerned about my camera feeds, they can have my print jobs

You can very easily print those national security projects of yours via local connection.

Will the P2S have enclosure and air filter? I print primarily ABS.
no need to take the word of randos in a forum on the internets...

This is what I was thinking too. I just didn't know enough to know if the lidar is more beneficial or not.
If you print abs or ASA the lidar is useless it constantly gets dirty.Just watch the first layer and you should be good .

Bought and then immediately cancelled. I'll wait for the P2S combo to come in stock for the same price.

This review helped me decide.

Bambu may be feeling the pressure of Snapmaker U1. For those that don't know, that's 4 multi-head system which drastically reduces filament poop.

Probably, but it's also likely that the X1C (and the original AMS) are being discontinued. The release of the P2S has pretty much guaranteed it. They're just giving retailers a chance to offload the X1C before announcing its retirement. Personally Id be concerned about the availability of parts for the X1C going forward, particularly hot ends since the newer extruders have a different design.

This is it. My DIY 3D printer was a full time hobby just to ensure it could print majority of the time. My Bambu printer is a tool I use to fix stuff around the house and pursue my hobbies. Still have my DIY 3D printer for when I feel the need to suffer. Wink

Fantastic price even if multi tool head is the future. If you print a single material at a time, or only occasionally need multi material, this is a fantastic deal on a very reliable printer that you'll get many years out of.

The upgrades that the P2S offers are minimal, the biggest being the nozzle design. But let me offer a counter point: The X1C design has been in use for years. The bugs have been worked out.

I have a X1C, will probably get a H2C when it's released, and I'm not worried about parts. There are a ton of X1C's out there, either they or someone else will keep making parts. Although I might stock up and grab a extra or two when they have their inevitable black Friday sale.

As for this deal it's still pretty good. The only weak point is the AMS as the AMS 2 Pro is far superior. The P2S has a lot of newer stuff but I actually use the lidar on the X1C and I print a lot of ASA/ABS so the chamber fan is helpful. Plus they will be supporting it with updates for two more years and security patches for 4 more.

this sale has nothing to do with that though, the X1C is just a 3yr old printer... they're dumping stock, especially with the P2S coming out that's a far better buy.

U1 is an interesting design, can't wait until it gets into users hands at a large scale to see how it performs. design innovation is good for us, the consumers... BambuLabs kicked a rather stagnant market group in the ass when they came out with their first printer, i'm glad more manufacturers are being forced to innovate while keeping these printers within an affordable range.

How are you designing parts for this? I understand if you have Creo or Solidworks, what is the general mass using for home designing of parts without?
Freecad is really good and obv free, blender is free, a limited version of autodesk fusion, and meshmixer etc for fixing up prints, solidifying, and resculpting - all of this is free.

Right...because "national security" is the only reason anyone would ever have for wanting privacy and control over their own devices.

I was looking at the P1S combo at $650 right now, but this is tempting. Not sure if I'd need the extra features
I have a few X1C. The fact is that it does print higher quality than my P1P for some reason. It did save me a ton of filament by having the spaghetti detection, and I can even skip the failed object if I do batches. I do believe that dynamic flow improves smaller defects that might be overlook.
