Dave's is solid - but not worth the chaos for a free sandie

Why do they have to do it like this, making it such a chaotic situation for both customers and employees with the insane lines. Why can't they spread it out over a week or with a unique code to use whenever so people can place pick-up orders whenever is convenient?

Need an account. I didn't use the app last year, only web browser.

Dave's Hot Chicken's free slider is a solid, spicy chicken sandwich deal, but the main draw is the free food rather than the experience around it. The slider is described as tasty and about the size of a KFC chicken sandwich, and the regular menu is pricey enough that the promo feels especially valuable. The catch is the redemption process and crowds, with long lines, slow app access, and a reward that may need email verification or time to appear. It also seems limited to participating locations and may only work in the app, making it a convenience-sensitive offer.

  • people who already use the Dave's Hot Chicken app regularly because the free slider reward shows up in the app rewards section and you can scan in restaurant to redeem it faster than relying on web browser.

    Hizzy812E4300E4300

  • people planning to go during off-peak hours because commenters said 11am-noon was bad at their location (line out the door) while other times had much shorter waits and quicker food.

    DelightfulCrow1116loopydealsMaroonSuit591

  • Android users who can keep Google Play Services enabled because at least one commenter said the redemption flow worked on Android, while others reported issues when Google Play Store was disabled.

    ScarletWallaby1643E4300

  • people who are willing to pre-order online/to-go instead of waiting in line because one commenter said after multiple to-go waits they created an account and started pre-ordering online.

    Hizzy812

  • people expecting a "free" deal without setup because commenters said you need an account (and sometimes email verification) and the reward may not appear unless you complete those steps.

    E4300emofalssbmaster

  • people who only want to use a web browser because multiple commenters said the promo didn't show up via web browser and appeared only in the app.

    E4300E4300JordanR1996

  • people who are going at peak lunch time or at locations that are understaffed because commenters reported lines out the door and slow service (e.g., one person taking orders and packaging).

    loopydealsDelightfulCrow1116loopydeals

  • people who can't get past app login/verification because commenters reported being stuck on "verify with passcode," the app being slow, or the reward not showing up after login.

    Hubbs1sbmasterbeautychaser

  • people who live far from a participating location because one commenter calculated that an 8-mile one-way trip (about $3 roundtrip in gas) wouldn't be worth it if the wait is bad.

    SpinControl

  • people who want the free annual birthday sandwich redeemed without going in person because commenters clarified it must be redeemed in person and may involve a separate line.

I disabled google play store. Could be the reason why app didn't work. About 45 min line. Don't open QR code till ready to scan

Went there one time and was unimpressed. No idea why it gets the hype it does. I would rather go to Shake Shack.

I can't log in either. I can't get past the 'verify with passcode' screen.

Wow I remember when they were just a Food truck a few years ago. Kudos to the owner's for the quick growth. BUT... good Sando yet not worth the hype and long lines as some others have stated. Still worth a doordash though haha.

Bigger than I thought. Same size as kfc chicken sandwiches. Taste good.
