I think we slowly have to kiss memory upgrades in Laptops good bye atleast for consumer variety.
Apple started it long back with its ARM based M1 that got good performance and great battery life with in package memory(SIP) and it then by Qualcomm xElite with reasonable performance and good battery life also was a SIP
Then the x86 answer to QCOM was Intel Ultra-V in both Lunar and Panther Lake forms ditched upgradable memory and went SIP.
That left AMD alone and its "AI" moniker also went on the same lines. It is now so horrible that Framework, the ultimate Customization king of laptops have to defend as to why its Strix Halo desktop needs to have integrated LPDDR5x. LPDDR5x has high speed as well as power advantages and with Power efficiency being the premium in today's laptops.
Only place where I see upgradable memory would be in corporate windows laptops of DELL and HP that too a specific lines. Any thin and lite design will still be soldered or SIP memory.
Let me tell you that nowadays corporate IT Departments also have started to allow Macs after M2 release. Pre Covid, offically laptops were Windows only with only the level of CEO and CTO having a Mac in addition to Windows laptops. 3 years ago in my company only Senior Directors and above were allowed any Macbook/Pro but now even developers can request the same as long as their Director approves them...So if IT departments do not mind using a closed upgrade path Macbook, there will be very little resistance to Windows counterparts....

It's a downside if you like using a number pad

No number pad on a 16 inch & ~4.18-4.43 pounds 😭 I really wanted my wait to be over. Excellent deal if those 2 aren't important to you. 2 USB C ports with power delivery, next gen processor, excellent screen is difficult to find for a laptop in this price range.
It boggles my mind that Slickdeals lists a dozen different specs in the OP (including a very helpful and detailed description of its ports) but routinely misses what is (to me) the single most important characteristic of a laptop: its weight!

So thanks for mentioning that here. Of course, everyone has different needs (such as a numpad), but as someone who travels with a 2.2-lb laptop, I lost interest when I saw how much this one weighs. This info should be front and center in any post about a laptop.

You said it yourself, if you care enough about it, research it yourself. It is not an important thing for the vast majority of people.

Depends where you work. Most organizations IT teams added mainstream support for Macbook's 15 years ago. The primary issue I've always seen has been cost, as they are expensive compared to their Dell/HP/Lenovo counterparts and usually required some justification for the capital expense.

I've been using a Macbook Pro at work across 4 organizations in the last 14 years.

Sweet. I have $115 in Best Buy rewards.
I had 75 and 1 15$ had to be used by 10/19 so it was perfect.. Thank god they showed all my rewards when I was in check out and apply them to the purchase or I would have lost them. Can't beat a 16" Tablet/Laptop for $262+tax and free ship.. Darn good deal seeing that I would have forgot about my rewards!!! Thanks for the post OP!!! also I chose the $15 gift card for the purchase so It's now going to be a sub $250 laptop that I can also use as a tablet to watch youtube and basic computer stuff!! Great find and glad I got in while they still had them as now it looks like they are sold out.. Back to 499 for new

I'm still able to add it to my cart, but checkout isn't working. Should I keep trying later in case it comes back in stock?

Is this better than the

NIMO 15.6" IPS FHD N159 Laptop: Ryzen 7 7735HS, 16GB DDR5, 512GB SSD, Radeon 680M

I just had this delivered but daughter is younger and wanted a laptop that can basically play some games

From a gaming perspective no, the 680m can outperform the 840m 60+%. From a build quality/energy efficiency standpoint yes.
