EcoFlow's DELTA 3 Ultra looks like a strong value for a single 3,072Wh power station, especially for camper, vanlife, and home backup use. The 120V, 30A TT30 output, 10ms cutover, and hi and low voltage solar input make it appealing for larger loads and solar setups, and the price compares well with older Delta 2 purchases. The main limits are the 800W solar cap, 60V input ceiling, and the non Plus model's lack of expansion battery ports. EcoFlow's confusing product pages and talk of future feature paywalls add some caution, but it still stands out as a compact all in one option.

Common Questions (5)

  • The non-plus Ultra does not have extra battery ports and cannot add expansion batteries. The Ultra Plus is the version in this lineup that supports battery expansion.

  • The unit is limited to 11-60V, 18A, with 800W max solar input on a single MPPT. That makes it less suitable for higher-voltage residential panel setups, though it can still work well for smaller solar arrays or camper use.

  • It has a 120V output and a 120V/30A TT30 plug, which makes it a strong camper unit. It can also be used for house backup if your generator connection is 120V, but it will not match a 240V generator input.

  • The 3kWh capacity makes it a likely fit for the 30% tax credit threshold. That said, the comments only raise the question and do not confirm final eligibility, so it should be verified against the current tax-credit rules.

  • A 3072Wh battery can run an older fridge for about 29 hours at a 105W average draw, or a newer fridge for about 43 hours at a 71.5W average draw. Real-world runtime can be a bit shorter because of inverter and discharge losses.

If I live in the desert with a fixed rate of 0.15 per kWh, any chance in balls hell this would save me any real money with 2x200W solar panels?

I'd probably use it to power my computer workstation and maybe my very light load server. IN a pinch if power is out for whatever reason (although that hasn't happpend in the year I've lived here), it could be used to power my cpap machine.

This only puts out 120V. If your generator connection is 120V then yes, but it is likely 240V.
Oh wow I assumed that big outlet on the right-front of the machine was 240v

If you need or want this, it's a very good price.. i think this UNIT will still be around, so the risk is low that it's not available later this year and at a lower price (but probably not TOO much lower).. but for things like Delta 2 MAX - which has now sort of been replaced, those units selling at

if you are not in a hurry, BF is getting closer, there is a good chance they will have either same price or even lower... make no sense to sell higher on BF

How is this different from the original Delta Pro? Stats appear the same. How many extra batteries can it use?
There are no extra battery ports on this unit.

Anyone know how long this would power a basic modern day 23 cubic foot fridge/freezer combo? That's all I would be hooking it up to in case of a power outage. Thanks

Thank you -- that helps a lot. If I don't plan to add additional batteries, and the other restrictions of the 3 Ultra (not 220V), are there other compelling reasons to get the previous Delta line? 220/240 might be nice if I was going to try to throw the whole house on it, but this is just for the server rack (possibly as UPS) and a fridge/freezer in a real emergency.

Well one has to really go up to the delta PRO lineup to get 220/240v, but the delta 2 max's are certainly cheaper and lighter than this, although for $/kw this is arguably the cheapest, but it's also heavier carrying around 3kw in one place vs. 2kw. If I wanted 3kw (for the tax credit) and wanted it in one unit for ease of deployment and the size didn't bother me, this puppy is pretty darn good for that. And with the 10ms cutover it's serve rack certified, whereas the delta 2 and other series I think are "only" 20 ms cut over capable, slightly better in actual testing.

Does this support pass through charging (charging at the same time you are using it to power some devices)?
Yes, it does.

Me personally I DO think that either BF of end of year prices will be even better. I think the OEM's think that with the tax incentive expiring at the end of the year the time to make hay is NOW. I think they wound rather move inventory now and get cash in the door vs holding out for price but losing sales. Sales will no doubt drop next year by a large amount. And "winter is coming" and I don't mean the seasonal change that happens every year.
lol. They still think Black Friday is a thing. Def not SDers.

Note that the Delta 3 Ultra's TT30 socket only supplies 3000w (unlike the Ultra Plus that supplies 3600w). But since you can't add more batteries, it doesn't matter since at that rate you would drain the entire single battery in one hour. You also can't turn off each set of 120v outlets individually. Not sure if those features indicate there is a difference in the underlying inverter for the Ultra vs Ultra-Plus.

Update Dec 12th: I later found out that the USA version of the Delta 3 Ultra actually does output 3600w from the TT30 receptacle. Though not sure if there is a difference in the surge capacity between the D3U and D3UP for that TT30 plug. All those youtube pre-release reviews show the D3U with the text "3000W Max" are not applicable to the USA version.
