I have a similar one bought from Temu last year, also powered by 2 AA batteries. The motion sensor works fine. The issue was that the batteries lasted for only 5-6 weeks operating the lid motor. I don't even use it that often. And it is not very easy to open the lid by hand when batteries were dead. Soon the cost of the batteries far exceeded the cost of the trash can. Hope this one works better.

Why not get rechargeable batteries? Even amazon basics ones are cheap enough if you prefer not to splurge on eneloops.
