Sherwin Williams is running a strong paint and supplies promotion, with the biggest draw being 40 percent off paints and stains and 30 percent off supplies. The sale can also pair with a $10 off coupon, and an Amex offer may add a $20 statement credit on $100 or more in store. Untinted paint can be bought now and tinted later at no charge, which helps for future projects. The main caveat is that the discount is framed against MSRP, and the promotion may apply only to interior paint and stain unless the exterior banner or link is available.

Reminder that you can buy the untinted paint now while it's on sale and then bring it in to have it tinted later. Handy if you've got a future project but you don't know what you want just yet.

That's a good tip. I'll probably go this route.

Could you buy it with the current sale, and return the unopened cans using the old receipt?
If it's tinted I don't think you can return.

It's because of the experiments you did in college.

Check the product data sheets on SW paint then compare it to the Behr sheets. SW products are often using things like vinyl on interior paint and the solids (what is left when the chemicals and water dry) are higher with Behr at a lower price. The Behr is usually 100% acrylic which is the gold standard. I think all the formulations have changed over the years and SW might not be the super high quality paint it once was.

Paint is way up. As a GC, we're laying $27/gal for exterior satin Superpaint.
Wish I could buy it for that price

I'm GC. Do you find that superpaint has good coverage compared to the other types?

Don't ask a GC. Ask a painter that actually paints(not sales).
GC's are about squeezing every last penny for profit.

"40% off" is bs. It's 40% off the MSRP that no retailer charges, ever. Price at store is same as you would have seen last week
The $10 off coupon worked for me though
While SW regularly runs their paint on sale, a) it's not always on sale, and b) the 40% is the best they offer to non-commercial accounts (and on some things occasionally beats the employee/family discount) and only happens a handful of times throughout the year. Anyone considering a paint project in the near future would be happy to have the notice here on SD.

One other thing to note is you can also buy the pain untinted while it's on sale if you don't know what color you want yet, then come back later and get it tinted at no charge.

This is excellent info. They pretty much run monthly sales, but wasn't sure how much better this was than the avg sale. You put it into context.
