Thanks op. I see the $5 switch locally. I think it's plastic?

Not sure, I assume it is. I bought the 8 port as a spare and haven't opened it yet. I also bought the AX1800 as a spare. I have a couple of Asus routers that I am using as wireless access points ( from the T-Mobile offer years ago) and for $25 I thought it will be good to have it on the shelf in case one dies.

I own the TP Link AX3200 and it's been fantastic. If you find one on sale for $80 or less, it's definitely worth it.

I've set up many a router in the past from a bunch of different brands and the only one I've hated doing was a TP-LINK. I was forced to download their app otherwise I was not able to configure anything, even after plugging it directly to my laptop which is what I usually do before even connecting it to the modem.

You mean before 3 Digits ban...these TP-Link routers were used for CCP March 2024 Volt Typhoon and other CyberWarfare attacks against US infrastructures, all cell towers, and water supply systems in several states.
