The Generations line tends to have different tag lines to split up the waves. The most current line is Age of the Primes but before that was Legacy, Legacy: Evolution and Legacy: United. These figures are just transformers in general. So you'll get character designs from the entire franchise that aren't focused on being accurate to any specific portrayal and are sometimes just loosely inspired by a specific look.
G1/G2 are eras of the original toy lines. G1 would be the era most people recall that led up to the 1986 animated movie. G2 is essentially the franchise as it was in the early 90's up until the franchise shifted to the 3D animated series, Beast Wars. Some characters got different colors (often crazy bright neon colors because it was the 90's) or different vehicle forms. G1 Megatron turned into a grey pistol, but in G2 he turned into neon green and purple camo patterned tank. Beast Wars Megatron turns into a purple T-rex. In this case G2 Optimus went from his classic truck (I think it was a Peterbilt semi?) that carried a trailer that cars could fit in to look to one that looked like a liquid/gasoline transport. You'll also see incarnations of characters that will look drastically different based on how they appeared in other shows. Like Arcee was originally a pink and white space-car but was a blue motorcycle in the show Transformers
