HACK: Click to "shop this deal" and choose the 1/4" impact (valued $10 higher than the advertised battery), add the two to your cart. The itemized price will be $104.76 for the router. Return the impact driver and $104.76 is your net purchase price.

If you are sheepish about returning items like this, tell them "I thought it was a new model but it's the same impact I already own"

Funny enough this deal is pretty good if you actually need the router and 1/4" hex. The impact is a 2953-20, which is a top tier Fuel option IMO. At 200+tax this is a legit deal even if you keep both tools.

On marketplace you can find brand new combo kit 5.0 batteries for $50-60 all day. So it's not your best value in this free tool deal.

There were reports of people getting banned from Home Depot, presumably using these hacks. Be careful.

I have never heard of anyone getting banned for doing this. They might flag you for doing too many returns but I doubt they'll ban you completely.

Aren't they going to be releasing a new hex impact driver soon?

Home Depot has been cracking down on hacks. They've been banning people for stuff like this.

Couldn't you just buy this in store with cash and execute the hack without any concerns of getting banned?

I have an irresponsible quantity of Milwaukee at the house, entirely purchased on hacks and an occasional deal. They've never questioned a thing though I've never purchased them for resale or quantities larger than a homeowner - or even tradesman - would otherwise normally purchase.

For anyone still returning items at the store, you are doing it completely wrong.
-Order it off the website using you phone. Select the store you want to pick up from like normal
-At the bottom of the page, there's a "text customer service". Click on it. This isn't a chat, but it'll open up the regular text message app.
-A customer service rep will ask how they can help. Text back and say you'd like to make a "partial order cancellation". Give them your order number, tell them which item you want cancelled. This usually takes a total of 2 minutes.
-All you have to do at this point is go pick up your tool at the pro-rated(hacked) price. This completely eliminates the 2nd trip to the store, getting funny looks or confusion from customer service in the store, or getting banned from returns completely.
I have done this at least 7 times.

nah even a year ago the CS gave me a whole spiel about how they couldn't do partial on some hack and I'd have to return both items so I had to do it in store where the lady did not give one heck. I haven't really hacked since as the writing was on the wall and nothing exciting was coming out that I didn't have. now it seems like a bunch of people are being flagged and banned. I guess you can setup virtual cards and be fine but.... effort
