Is this a good size for sourdough bread? The picture has it fitting a whole chicken, so I'm not sure if it's too big.
I think you can make this size work as I used to use a 7 qt. Personally, I think getting just the cast iron is better, because baking sourdough requires such high temps, it makes the enamel look very bad/stained. bought the 4.3qt version of this on Woot! 3 years ago. def worth it. it is still in perfect condition! we've been wanting a bigger one and would you look at that!
I have the 7.3 qt version and it's my most favorite pot or pan. Sear the meat on the stove, add in veggies and such, finish in the oven. Same pot, no mess, easy cleanup. This is a great price.
Just bought the Le Creuset in this size. Great dutch oven, has straight sides and more surface area on the bottom. But yeah, it is $480 if you don't catch a sale. So for $39, this is a steal.
