The recommended amount accounts for worse case scenarios based on manufacturer testing. There are hyper concentrated versions of Henkel detergent brands that only call for 0.5-0.75oz per load.. This is less than 2tbsp aka 1oz.. which is why I call BS for it being a "rule".
IE. 0.75oz hyper concentrated version being as effective as 1.3oz-1.56oz "standard versions" Henkel also sells.
Amount of detergent is always a spectrum based on load size vs environment/hardware.
It's still a subpar formula relative to alternative options on market. Orange Tide and Persil Original (3-4 enzymes) are above average, but still perform lower than something like the premium Hygienic clean formulas in both liquid and pods.
