very unreliable for heart rate monitoring and even sleep monitoring isn't the best.
this is an expensive shiny accessory that has little real world utility, especially if you want reliable data
Oura Ring 4 is positioned as a sleek sleep and heart rate tracker that works well for people who want health data without wearing a watch. The deal can stack with the $200 Amex Oura annual credit, and pickup at Best Buy has worked with the charge still counting toward the credit. The main catch is the ongoing subscription, which makes the ring feel expensive over time, especially since shipping may still apply. It is a more compelling fit if you value ring form factor over smartwatch features.
Shoppers using an Amex Oura credit, because the purchase can stack with the credit and still qualify for pickup.
Sleep-focused athletes who want finger-based tracking, because it is described as a solid sleep tracker with mostly accurate heart-rate monitoring outside the wrist.
Yes. A monthly subscription is required to see the data, and the ring is described as having little value without it because the core app features are behind that recurring fee.
Yes. The purchase can stack with the $200 Amex Oura annual credit, and the credit has posted within a few days when ordered through Oura and picked up at Best Buy.
No, not if you already know your size. The order can be completed with the free sizing kit option, and having a kit at home is enough to choose the ring size.
As a millennial who thinks watches are for boomers, I'd rather wear a ring any day
Funny... fellow millennial here, I got the Oura ring so I could wear my Rolex and still get health data. I didn't want to wear TWO watches...that would be extra comical.
Useless without subscription. You'll pay several times over the most expensive Apple Watch, that has better sensors, than this ring over the long term. Not worth it.

I researched the smart rings extensively. Oura has a monthly fee to see your data. This is their reoccuring fee model. I tried it out for a month but just couldn't justify the monthly cost. What is stopping Oura to increase the monthly cost. Every single service from Netflix to Amazon has done that and there isn't a damn thing you can do other than stop using their ring or pay up the new cost.
If you are they small percentage who wants oura ring but for the rest of us, we have other choices.
I went with Ultrahuman ring, sold at various places including Costco website. No monthly coasts. For the first two or so months, it was a bumpy ride, they sent frequent firmware upgrades. For the last 4-5 months, rock solid with the charging and data captures. No complaints.
For those comparing Apple Watch and a smart rings, there's no direct comparisons. One measures from the wrist, the other measures from the finger.
I highly recommend ultra human ring.

Ridiculous that you need a subscription for monitoring your vitals and people are crazy enough to pay it..I'll stick with my Garmin watch. An AMEX Plat benefit I won't even use bc I'm not getting behind paying a sub.

I'll let my $200 Amex coupon go to waste rather than buy this for $75 and pay them a perpetual subscription fee to access my data
Think of it like living in an apartment. One coould argue "why would I need to keep paying rent for MY living space?" Well, the answer is, you never paid the expensive amount to design, develop, and manage the apartment.
Same for technology. If you want to pay millions to design and develop hardware and software, pay for the maintenance/devops, security, analytics, etc then you can escape the monthly fee but you'd still be paying engineers millions to make sure everything goes smoothly.
I have a $350 gift card for the Oura website. If anyone wants it, let me know and I can sell for less. Choose whatever you trust most to get the deal done
