It's been my experience with tshirts and jackets that they run big. I'm 6'2" 240lbs and wear large, where I'd be XL anywhere else. I think you'd be swimming in this jacket.

I'm 5' 11" 230 and my wife bought me either this one or very similar last Xmas in XL and it was very large on me. Most jackets I'm between L and XL but the coat my wife got was closer to XXL feel.

I have one of the Carhartt Duck jackets, and if sizing is anything like that, this will be huge. I'm 6'2" 225 and had to go down to a medium regular. I did want a more fitted look, but it still has plenty of room. I first tried an XLT and got lost in it. The sleeves were crazy long.

They are meant to be roomy and run large. I would say if you are 5'11" and under 180lbs a 'Large" size will fit you comfortably. I'm 6"1' 212lb and XL fits me perfectly.
