Chadley and the sidequests are terrible. Just play the main campaign. Some really cool moments, many very lame moments. 5/10 game because of the crap story. OG ff7 will always be best.
That's strange. This game got really good ratings and reviews and was nominated for a bunch of awards. You really think it was that bad?

It's probably the most bloated game ever made. Filled to the brim with trash content. I loathe the changes they made to the story as well. They did a great job with Junon and Golden Saucer, at least.

Because it is a good game. People shitting on it probably wouldn't have liked it to begin with and hate-played it. The story is 95% the same as the OG and you can ignore all the sidequests if you don't want to do them. Personally, I just played through the main story and then went back and did the sidequests afterwards.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of the game, as well as the "Remake" trilogy vision. That said, I thought Rebirth was incredible. The criticism of being too bloated is valid, as side content and mini games aren't for everyone. I actually read people complaining about the side quests of Remake being too much bloat, so I'm sure there are people who despise the optional content of Rebirth.
I thought Rebirth was an incredible entry in the world of FF7 and left me wanting more -- which is what it was designed to do. Was it as impactful as Remake? Arguably not, but it is special in its own way.
As a fan of Final Fantasy games since the NES, this was a beautiful game. I bought this game a while back when I think it was about $37, and it was well worth the price I paid. The game did have a few flaws, as did recent games like XV and XVI, but none worth complaining about on the internet about as I enjoyed each in its own unique ways despite their flaws. I'm willing to bet this will drop below $30 this holiday season as sales have hovered in the $35-40 range for quite some time.

Very fun game, lots of content. It's an open world vs Part 1 where it's a restricted "Follow the Rail" game that pushes you from area to area. Both of concepts have their pros and cons, but I really enjoyed Rebirth and having the freedom to do (or not do) the side quests.
I think people who played the OG version of FF7 tend to put the original game on a holy pedestal, and view any changes to it as borderline sacrilege. You can see this with OG Star Trek, Star Wars, etc where you have a dedicated (fanatical?) fanbase that was really a part of their childhood back in the day. Most of the backlash come from those who are afraid to see the original content "changed" or become forgotten. Not all remakes are perfect and there have been some pretty spectacular failures where well intentioned changes were truly awful when viewed through the lenses of the original story/concepts. Personally, I'm glad to see reboots and remakes of original games and franchises. This keeps the game and stories alive and relevant to new generations.
Beautiful remake that expands up on damn near everything touched on in the OG game. I do really wish that everything to do with Charley was omitted though, that got old very quickly.
Beautiful game. PS1 ff7 fan here, loving it so far. Just past Junon. Highly recommend at this price or lower.
PS1 FF7 fan here. Got so bored with these I didn't even finish, and won't be buying any more. Talk about a ton of crap that wasn't even in the original game and just a slog to get through. Way too linear. "Turn based" fighting isn't like the original at all. A lot of the secrets in the original game don't exist. So much to complain about, little to praise. But hey - pretty jRPG graphics skinned in Final Fantasy right?
Better off just replaying the original imho, as it's a better use of time and way better game.

Part 3 can't come soon enough.
