Question is. Is this any good being M12? Planers need some umph.

If you are using this for trim and cabinets and doors and stuff, this is perfect. If you are trying to plane and flatten slabs of wood, then no, there are probably better tools (like anything that isn't a cordless planer…). Need to quickly trim down some studs or joists that are already in place so your drywall or tiles aren't bulging? Perfect for that too.
I had a new refrigerator that was just barely too tall, even though the dimensions were supposed to fit. A quick plane with this on the bottom edge of the cabinet made it all good.
The old M18 planer was awful and this definitely beats it.
This is a rough tool, not a precision tool. It is definitely a tool that not everyone needs.

Give it a shot. It can take a vac and that helps a lot with the clogging, but it can get fiddly because of how small the tool is. I've used it a few times with a vac but I feel it defeats the purpose of an M12 tool. Just becomes a bit too bulky.
It might still be perfect for your specific needs and what you want. If you're using it to touch up slabs and then run it through an actual planer, it could work well (though I suspect you may want something larger). You never know though.
My comment is for the folks who think this will be the only planer they need for slabs and other large surfaces of wood.
$115 is the absolute cheapest this planer has gotten, so it's a good deal.
