This is on clearance and available in-store for $19.97. You can check availability at your local stores by using the Warehouse tab in the Costco phone app to search for "1806296".

The online price is also clearance but is $10 more. I believe the original price was $50.

It's 2025, why are led strips still not diffused by default?

Because they're exorbitantly more expensive [govee.com]?

That's bologna. It absolutely does not cost significantly more to product for a frosted layer of plastic on top of the diodes.

I agree with you, but it's probably because then it enhances the versatility of its use:

without diffusion you could mount them behind something where it doesn't shine directly at you and the where increased brightness is more advantageous.

If exposed, it certainly needs diffusion.

How bright are these? Like for under cabinet lights. Had couple mediocre attempts.

Does anyone know if these are put on a switch if 1) they are turned off, they retain the colors and brightness initially set 2) can these be used with a dimmer wall switch

These should work well for under cabinet especially if you run them along both the front and the back of the cabinet.

BTW, I use these cheapies in my kitchen and they work well,,, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08VS4FSGH
