Just a heads up 400 is the standard max temp for air fryers. Some go to 450, but those are usually PTFE-free air fryers. PTFE is only safe to 500F, and temperature control on air fryers isn't very accurate, so manufactures limit them to 400F to play it safe.

I've read that this model has been setting off smoke detectors in some people's houses.

The 8 qt is generally considered the best bang-for-buck air fryer, especially at this price. The dual-basket one did poorly in testing at all the review sites, though.

I have had 3 of this brand over the years. None have set off my nest smoke alarms at home, but they all set it off in my fifth wheel. There never has been smoke or any hit of smoke smell.

I love this model though. Id buy another in a heart beat.

Agreed, I'm about to return the double one, worst air fryer I've ever owned. Rusting everywhere, super loud, max temp is only 400

It used to drop down to $40 during sales in stores but the price went up $5 during the past few months from what I can tell.

This 8qt is the first air fryer, out of three that I have purchased in the past, that doesn't constantly smell like plastic. I've run past air fryers before using them to try and get rid of the smell of plastic but I could never get them to 'burn off the smell' but I gave this one a try during a sale earlier this year and I'm quite happy with it overall.

Yep but given that they are both called "Air Fryers" they are very different machines with very different design intents and very different strengths and weaknesses. It's like the 8 Quart is a 4-door sedan and XL 45 quart is a full sized SUV.
