How good is the solar panel? I imagine you cannot install this under a roof overhang.

With direct sun battery last about 3-5 months. Less sun/winter it last about a month.

I have four of this exact model. All were mounted April 2025. Two are mounted south facing with partial sun. Trees block sun part of the day. Two are north facing. House blocks direct sun most of the day. None are under an overhang. All are still over 90% charged. I cannot comment on how well they'll charge over the rest of fall and winter months. The videos download to an Eufy Homebase 3 with a 400 GB SSD. This setup has worked flawlessly for six months. Hope this helps.

For some reason Chewy, the pet site, has this for sale as a dog camera. I found a $20 off code 'GIFT20OFF' and got it for $44.99 + tax. https://www.chewy.com/eufy-soloca...dp/1685318

Previously bought a 4 pack directly from Eufy about 1.5 years ago. Paid $160 + tax back then for the 4 pack ($40 each).

3/4 are still flawless. All had almost all day sun on most days, but the one in my front yard would die quickly. I'd have to bring it in and charge it about 1x a month. I adjusted it to be less sensitive and record less, but eventually it fully died.

I reached out to Eufy and they were nice enough to send me a replacement as a one-time exception, since the warranty had lapsed.

Grabbing this one for cheap for when the next one dies.

My experience is same as other user. I got sun most of the year, and this thing never falls below 90% charge. They have been working for me since I got them.

Overall pretty good. The claim is 2K. I don't know it actually achieves 2K. I have mine set lower to conserve battery.

Thanks for the tip! That promo code didn't work for me for some reason, but this one did (also $20 off): NEWADOPTION20

You can use a few mirrors to bounce the sunrays onto the solar panel.

Can this be used standalone (without Eufy Homebase 3) ?
