I'll be very honest, it shoulda like you've never done a side by side comparison because anyone who has wouldn't say something like this.

Does anyone feel like OLED is a gimmick? Is this controversial? Screen companies have been caught in breaking laws and colluding before. An upper end 4k fast response high refresh IPS is incredible, it looks magnificent and will last 10 years easily. What are we even buying?

If it was a gimmick, I am sure at least 1 respectable monitor review channel/website would call it out. Instead everything I see and read praise the upgrade from IPS/VA to OLED as being a worthwhile jump forward.

I jumped from a single AW3420DW to a pg27ucdm and MAG 341CQP. I definitely notice the difference in picture quality.

As someone who has owned and used CRT, LCD, Plasma, VA, TN, IPS, LED, WOLED, to finally an Alienware QD-OLED, you would not be saying this if you saw them for yourself in that progression. I've always waited until the cycle matured for each of those technologies and have always been wowed be certain feature sets and advantages. A lot of new tech came with their own disadvantages but was always an upgrade in image quality save for when plasma was phased out for LED/LCD. OLED is beautiful coming from a LG nano IPS monitor. The response time, blacks and color depth isn't something IPS can match atm. Maybe when MiniLEDs get cheaper they will reign supreme but point being, every panel technology is a gimmick, if you look back. You're asking the wrong questions for the people buying these. We just like nice looking things, and it doesn't have to last 10 years.

Most people looking to purchase this upgrade every 2 or 3 years anyways. I'm not worried about getting 10 years. I use multiple systems and my stuff never wears out, my kids (x6) inherit like new when I'm done. I love my G8. 10 hours daily for 5 years on my LG C1 and it's still perfect just saying

He's also butthurt and thumbing down everyone lol.
I've used CRT, LCD, TN, plasma, etc and after trying OLED especially with HDR Im not going back to any of those. Someone offers me an nvidia 5090 with IPS or a 5080 with an OLED I'll easily pick the 5080 because no amount of extra GPU power can replicate what OLED + HDR can do.

Good price, but it's been cheaper before.
I have the AW3423DWF and also the older version of this G85SB. The only difference between the B and D is that this new one uses normal sized DisplayPort and HDMI ports instead of the mini ones on the one before making it easier to change cables if yours ever fails.

It is a great monitor. New "better" ones have come out that have higher refresh (240) but I don't play FPS competitively, so I dont do the gamer thing of "set everything to low so frames go up to 400", so 175 is more than enough.

And to the clown that got rightfully thumbed down to obvlivion, response time on OLED is near instant. No IPS will ever have as low a response time as OLED so I don't understand why you even mention IPS in an OLED discussion. The first time I upgraded from IPS to OLED was jaw dropping moment.
