Google came up with this:
https://morningsave.com/deals/2-p...r-bottle-2

I'm not a fan of room temperature / lukewarm water, so I'd happily pay $20 more for an insulated bottle.

What context does a life straw and water temp make sense to be the concern...

I think his point is he prefers cold water and therefore an insulated container?

Although I guess your point is most aren't filling a LifeWater with refrigerated/cold water?

You can't use a insulated bottle to boil water if you were trying to save the longevity of the straw though and sure it weighs more.

why does everyone pay more for steel? they eventually start to stink like mold and have to be washed often with vinegar after the tipping point.

I actually find the insulated filter bottles annoying because there isnt enough room in the bottle to actually add ice with the filter taking up so much room in the bottle, and it takes longer to chill in the refrigerator if its insulated. Plus if you actually need to filter water then you probably dont have the luxury of choosing your water temperature. Also the insulated bottle is bulkier, but doesnt add much utility for the reasons listed above.

Was just hiking and ran out of water. A buddies inferior lifestraw knockoff ended up busting the bag. Figured this will be good for the next hike and then some. This isn't exactly shareable but still a good deal.

Aside from camping, this is probably the best reason to get these. These are a great buy if you go to countries with sus tap water.

Yeah I agree with the sentiments above on not getting the stainless version of theseโ€ฆ

For their purpose its probably best to have a transparent container so you can see larger potential contaminants if filling from an untrusted water source.

If you're buying to filter from a tap or running water source then I guess visibility doesn't really matterโ€ฆbut its not likely you'll have a chilled source (unless its already cold outside then it defeats the purpose since you probably won't want cold water)
