Depends what you need. M18 is 8", bigger tool. This one is nice and light 6". if you need bigger chainsaw buy 14-18".

I'm in the M12 eco-system, so M18's are not an option. I already have the Kobalt 24v stuff for "big jobs".

Wait for m18 to go on sale for the same price or close. As much as people like to say, that extra 2" does make a difference in a saw.

I use this tool in a 1000 tree peach orchard. It's a delight to use and perfectly sized for even the largest of limbs. Anything larger would just increase exhaustion.

I have to bring lots of batteries with me, but it's a lot better than lifting LARGE batteries over and over again.

No complaints here. I've only used it a handful of times, but it works really well for limbing; handles jobs larger than a lopper can handle. I have a chainsaw for larger jobs.

Ok....or Im in/others are in just the m12 line and waiting or getting into a larger line is nonsensical

Over the last few years, I've defaulted to buying the m12 versions before the m18 unless I know 100% I need the m18. The m12 lineup has gotten so good that for most people, its more than enough.
