Have been looking as these type of products for a while to add to our bugout bags for each car and for our travel gear. Amazon reviews seem decent, obvious it won't work on all doors so you may need to rely on other door restrain methods.

Why is this on the front page? also the pictures tell me nothing about how this works. How is that plastic piece just always floating in the air? what is it supposed to do?

How will a piece of plastic will keep intruders out? I would look into other products before jumping on this deal.

It depends on the door fit, but my experience is much better than this. On the doors I've tried them with, these can easily withstand the amount of force someone would typically use to open an unlocked door.

But think of these like a bathroom privacy lock. They clearly communicate that the door is "locked" but they are certainly not going to prevent an adult from forcing the door open with their body weight.

Actually I'd disagree, quality 'braces' in this style on a normal (and properly installed...with correct gaps) residential style door would delay an intruder as they do provide more area for the door to resist force of being destructively kicked in. A delay is all you can really hope for here, a home invader isn't likely to just get bored after the first or second kick.

For example, if you notice from the start of the video, the door handle wasn't turned / thus engaged, the frame wasn't broken, nor did the brace fail....Dude just pushed in a door with something wedged in it. Hardly a fair test of anything. Then in the second 'test,' he turned the unlocked handle, again, not a fair test because...are you really leaving the locked door....unlocked? LOL... Therefore there was nothing for this to brace against. He also couldn't have gotten away with kicking in a hotel door either, so there was really no fair way for him to test this at all. But it worked for clickbait...so he got what he wanted....attention and views Wink

Now, not claiming this product or the product in the video counts as "quality" either. Just saying the concept and some brand's implementation can be very done well and give you an extra 2-5 seconds to flee or prepare. All you can really hope for in that circumstance. No 6 oz product is going to turn your door into a nuke proof bunker wall.

That being said, most hotel doors have almost zero gap (for smoke entry reasons) and the lock latches are almost never standard sizes, so this style product wouldn't likely work in that setting. Or anywhere outside of the US as those doors rarely follow US norms or on old or non-standard doors either.

Yep, the doors are typically fire rated and have an automatic door closer on them, so they're tougher than even your house front door. Not to mention the locks, which are not only strong as anything and fire rated mortise locks, but they also have audit trails of the time and date of the last 100 actions on the lock (vingcards do ime, so others should also log at least this much). And then add the final door latch that's in hotels that is nearly impossible to defeat. If you lock a hotel room door and set the deadbolt, anyone getting into that room by any means will either give up or have their entry logged and traceable.
