These can not direct you to the specific location (phone in couch, etc...), just the general area or address. Basically yes they will do the job. Both play sounds to find them. If you want overall better quality and to be able to be guided specifically where they are, stick to Apple tags.

They weren't trying to solve your problem. "Just for reference" made it pretty clear that they were letting everyone else who read your comment know your personal experience is not universal. Find My precision finding works for some (most?) people; myself included.

Just for reference, I have the opposite anecdote. Precision finding has always worked for me.

I've never used this brand but most 3rd party AirTags generally have the same qualities:
  • Work natively with Apple's Find My app
  • More user friendly shape than Apple's AirTag so no separate holder to purchase
This one appears to have a replaceable battery. It likely does not support "Precision Finding". Not something I've used but if you need it you'd want to verify whether it's supported.

You mean the precision finding that doesn't work even if the air tag is in your hand on iOS 26?

I prefer the shape of Apple"s air tag. But I have a printer. I find it easier to add It into things like wallets and hide it in backpacks.

I'm considering this because I could use a few more tags without needing the precision.

I guess Apple's Airbag could use nearby Apple device to continuous send location to your phone, but the 3rd part product only remember the last location connected to your phone (via Bluetooth)?
No, it uses Apple's FindMy network so it will also update its location when another FindMy compatible device is nearby. It just does not have the precision finding feature due to no ultra wide band chip.

I have some Tiles that need replacing, would this be a comparable alternative as I think Apple's network is just as good as Tile's network. I just don't want to switch to some knockoff locator network without any real user base.

If it matters I am using Android phones.
