TP link. Famous for back door hacks. Probably none in this router, but they've done it before.

This one doesn't have great range. I would keep that in mind.

Also, the hacks being referred to above were regarding older routers that were no longer supported via firmware update and hackers were taking advantage of that.

Reviews are pretty bad for range and frequent disconnects

It's Costco. If it doesn't please you, send it back. Best way to figure out which router works best for your home setup.

Won't recommend TP Link. They have no reliable support for their devices. They will launch a product with good on paper specs and will discontinue them after few months. At times they'll discontinue the the whole lineup. So beware and know what you're getting yourself into.

I stopped at Costco and returned Lexar flash drive due to copy errors. There is a sign near return desk have about dozen items 90 days only and that list can change any time.

Just sharing my two cents about TP-Link. I bought a TP-Link Deco M9 mesh router bundle from Costco right before the pandemic and they were terribly unstable. If I remember correctly when one of them separated from the mesh they would set themselves up as a DHCP server and destroy the entire mesh requiring a rebuild. TP-Link was really bad about firmware updates and even acknowledging they were a problem even with a lot of other consumers experiencing this and other issues. After a couple of years I gave up on TP-Link fixing the issues and returned them to Costco for a full refund. I've never used another TP-Link product since. I've been on the Ubiquiti bandwagon for the past two years and have to say I absolutely love that ecosystem. Their products are pricey but wow the easy installation, amount of insight and integration of networking, POE, security cameras, storage, identity, access management, etc. is amazing.

For what it's worth- I recently upgraded my router and discovered most of the devices at home can't avail WiFi 7. Technology is cutting edge and you'd be perfectly okay with a 6E router if you don't have a specific need for WiFi 7.

The TP-Link BE/GE 8xx series is currently the most affordable entry point into WiFi 7, offering key features like 320MHz 6GHz band support, 4K-QAM, and Multi-Link Operation (MLO).

Among them, the BE805 stands out as a solid value. I personally opted for the GE800, the gaming variant in the BE19000 class.

Performance-wise, the router delivers significantly better throughput than my previous generation AX models from TP-Link. However, it's not without its flaws. Range is noticeably weaker, and I've encountered intermittent disconnects on certain bands. The most critical issue so far: when pushing several terabytes of data continuously, the router locks up and drops all connections across bands requiring a full power cycle to recover.

Remote administration is also lacking. The TP-Link Tether app struggles to retrieve even basic metrics like traffic I/O, which is disappointing given the router's positioning. I mean, the metrics are THERE but it's just not populating them.

Ultimately, this feels like a classic "bleeding edge" tradeoff, you get early access to next-gen features, but stability and polish are still catching up. That said, outside of heavy download sessions (Steam), the router has been relatively stable. I'm hopeful that future firmware updates will iron out the remaining issues
